That sounds obvious, but it exposes one of the practical problems with wearables. The more noticeable a device is on your wrist, and the more frequently it needs to visit a charger, the easier it becomes to stop wearing it consistently.
The Xiaomi Smart Band 11 Active addresses that problem with two numbers: an 18 g band body and up to 21 days of claimed battery life.
The first is the weight of the band body without its strap. The second is Xiaomi’s best-case battery estimate, and it comes with significant qualifications. Between them sits a 1.47-inch TFT display, 50 fitness modes, heart-rate and SpO₂ monitoring, sleep and stress tracking, and 5ATM water resistance.
None of that makes the Smart Band 11 Active unusually sophisticated. The more interesting question is whether Xiaomi has made a fitness tracker that is easy to leave on your wrist.
18 grams reduces the physical commitment
The Smart Band 11 Active measures 43.5 × 25.8 × 10.2mm, excluding the strap and protrusions, and its body weighs 18 grams without the strap.
That does not prove the band is comfortable. Strap design, fit, skin contact, and personal preference all matter, especially if you plan to wear something while sleeping.
What the number establishes is that there simply is not much device to carry around.
The TPU strap adjusts from 135 to 215mm and comes in Black, Gray, and Pomelo Pink. Xiaomi also claims its improved anti-slip pin-and-buckle catch provides a more secure fit during daily use and workouts.
The design is documented. Whether the revised catch actually stays put better requires hands-on testing.
A basic screen gets a useful upgrade
The 1.47-inch TFT display has a resolution of 172 × 320 pixels at 247 PPI, a reinforced glass cover, and a 60Hz refresh rate.
Xiaomi describes scrolling as smooth and responsive, although it notes that the refresh rate can vary slightly between interfaces. Smoothness therefore remains something to judge in person rather than something the 60Hz figure proves by itself.
Xiaomi also offers more than 100 watch faces, with some requiring downloads through the Mi Fitness app.
This is still a straightforward fitness-band display. Its job is to put useful information on your wrist without trying to turn the Smart Band 11 Active into another miniature smartphone.
More monitoring makes consistent wear more useful
The Smart Band 11 Active uses a PPG sensor and accelerometer to support heart-rate monitoring, SpO₂ tracking, sleep tracking, stress monitoring, and women’s health features. Several of those functions are configurable.
Continuous heart-rate monitoring can use Smart monitoring or intervals of 1, 10, or 30 minutes. Optional all-day SpO₂ monitoring has to be enabled manually and samples once every 10 minutes. Advanced stress monitoring also requires activation in Mi Fitness.
That makes consistent wear more useful because gaps in wear inevitably mean gaps in the information being collected.
But more information is not automatically medical information.
Xiaomi explicitly states that the band and Mi Fitness app are not medical devices and that their information should not be used for diagnosis or treatment. Xiaomi also warns that its women’s health feature may not accurately predict menstrual cycles.
Treat the results as personal wellness information, not a medical verdict.
50 workout modes do not tell us how accurate they are
Xiaomi lists 50 built-in sports modes and says workouts are recorded with precision.
We can verify the number. We cannot verify the precision from a product page.
The published sensor list identifies a PPG sensor and accelerometer. Xiaomi’s global specifications do not list built-in GPS, so anyone who specifically needs onboard location tracking should verify that capability before buying.
For casual exercise, the bigger advantage may simply be having the same small device ready to record different activities rather than needing a more elaborate sports watch.
5ATM removes another reason to take it off
Water can interrupt wearable tracking if you constantly have to remember when a device needs to come off.
The Smart Band 11 Active has a 5ATM water-resistance rating based on the ISO 22810:2010 test standard.
Xiaomi says it can be worn in swimming pools, while swimming near shore, and during other shallow-water activities. It can also record workout duration and estimated calories burned while swimming.
There are still boundaries. Xiaomi excludes diving, hot showers, and saunas, advises avoiding direct impacts from swift currents, and warns that water resistance can deteriorate over time.
In practice, 5ATM can reduce how often you need to remove the band.
The 21-day battery claim comes with conditions
The 300mAh battery supports magnetic charging, with Xiaomi listing a full recharge time of less than 120 minutes.
Xiaomi claims up to 21 days in light-use mode and 8 days in normal-use mode.
The conditions behind those numbers matter more than the headline.
The 21-day test used 30-minute heart-rate measurements, two manual SpO₂ measurements per day, 60 minutes of weekly workout tracking, and disabled advanced monitoring and sleep-breathing-quality monitoring.
The eight-day test increased heart-rate measurements to every minute, enabled advanced monitoring, sleep-breathing-quality monitoring and all-day stress monitoring, increased notifications and screen activations, and recorded 90 minutes of workouts per week.
Even that normal-use test measured SpO₂ manually twice daily instead of enabling optional all-day SpO₂ monitoring.
Neither result predicts exactly what you will get. What Xiaomi’s testing does demonstrate is how much your choice of monitoring features can affect the battery-life equation.
Who should buy the Xiaomi Smart Band 11 Active?
The Smart Band 11 Active is not compelling because it eliminates the compromises of a simple fitness band. It is interesting because some of those compromises may help it stay out of your way.
Its low weight, water resistance, and potentially long intervals between charges reduce some of the reasons you might remove it. Meanwhile, heart-rate, SpO₂, sleep, stress, and workout tracking provide reasons to keep wearing it.
There are limits. Xiaomi’s specifications do not list built-in GPS, its health information is for personal reference rather than medical use, and getting close to the headline 21-day battery figure requires a relatively light configuration.
Buyer fit: Choose the Xiaomi Smart Band 11 Active if your biggest requirement is a small fitness tracker you can put on and mostly leave alone while it records everyday activity and wellness information. Look elsewhere if you need onboard location tracking, advanced sensors, richer apps, or smartwatch-style independence from your phone.
The band works with Mi Fitness on phones running Android 8.0 or later and iOS 14.0 or later, according to Xiaomi.

The best fitness tracker is not necessarily the one that records the most things. Sometimes it is the one you are least tempted to take off.
