REVIEW – Electric scooters continue to grow in popularity and features and I have really enjoyed testing and trying out different models over the past few years. I’ve also seen the speeds and ranges increase as batteries and motors improve and the engineering behind it all advances. Today’s review is a zippy 31 mph addition, the Ecoroad ES6 Electric Scooter. It comes with a hefty suspension and build, so read on to see how it held up!

Design and features
The basic design features of this electric scooter that stand out to me are a serious suspension system, collapsible handlebars, and a scary fast upper speed limit.
The suspension on this electric scooter is impressive. There are hydraulic shocks in the front and a triangular suspension setup in the rear that do an impressive job of handling bumps and road vibration. This really helps at high speeds because vibration and bumps can be very dangerous.

Transporting electric scooters can be tricky, even when they fold up. One thing I’ve noticed that causes problems is the handlebars and how they stick out. This electric scooter has the nice feature where the handlebars also fold up, but they lock into place so they’re not going to move when in use.

There are four speed levels with this scooter; 1 – Walking, 2 – Eco, 3 – Normal, 4 – Sport. The power, speed, light, and settings controls are all on the left hand handlebar. Bumping speed levels up and down is easy to do with the controls.

There is an app available on Android and iOS devices. The app provides some basic capabilities. It allows you to control features, but I don’t recommend trying to operate while riding the scooter.

The app does allow you to set your measurement units and a few other features that you can see below, but you can’t have Dark Mode currently on if you try to access the Settings menu. Everything is just dark, so switch to regular viewing while you’re in the app.

Assembly, Installation, Setup
Assembly of the Ecoroad ES6 is very simple. Out of the box there are only a few things that need to be done before you’re up and running!
This is a pretty heavy box, so get some help with this if you can. Everything is very well padded and packed together.

There are a bunch of thick zip ties in this, so grab a pair of wire cutters if you can. They’ll make this process a lot easier.

The handlebars arrive folded up, so lift them up and lock them into place. The collars screw down so things don’t move when in use.

Unfolding the electric scooter, there are two very solid pins that lock into place. I’m very impressed by the system they use here. It’s easy to fold, but it would be very difficult to have an accidental disengagement.

The only tool that you have to use in assembling this scooter is a handy allen wrench used to install the rear mud flap.

Two screws and an allen wrench are all you need to install the rear mud flap and you’re set.

Final adjustment on the scooter is handlebar height. Many electric scooters don’t have an adjustable handlebar height, so if you’re outside of a certain height range it can be kinda difficult to ride. On this model, however, you do have the ability to quickly adjust the height and lock it down firmly.

Performance
Now for the big question. How does it ride? I have to say that this is one of the smoothest riding scooters I’ve been on. The front and back suspension makes for a very smooth ride, which is very important when you’re going fast and critically important when you’re approaching the scooter’s top speed of 31 mph.
Out and about, walking mode puts you going at around 9 mph. Eco mode bumps up to 15 mph and Normal mode 21 mph. Normal mode is still quick but not too nerve-wracking. Sport mode is very true to its advertised speed of 31 mph. It’s fun and very smooth, but I don’t know if I’m that comfortable going that fast for long distances.
Going around the neighborhood in starts and stops and up and down through the different speeds, I consumed about 25 percent of the battery and traveled about 6 miles. Full battery expectation would put battery exhaustion at around 25 miles, lower than the advertised 31 miles, but the advertised mileage is done in walking mode.

The front light is very bright and the running lights on the deck are very fun. They have a color shift that looks very cool, but most noticeable in the dark or dusk.

Final thoughts
This is a pretty great scooter. It has some very well thought out design features in the handlebar and deck locking systems and the suspension is very good at evening out bumps and vibration from the road. I don’t have any major issues or qualms about it besides a word of warning about the speed. It is VERY fast. Wear a helmet whenever you’re riding and pay attention to conditions. I highly recommend the scooter and I hope that the performance stays consistent as we continue to use this scooter. I’ll provide updates if that changes.
