REVIEW – I don’t camp as often as I used to, but I always have a use for a portable light I can bring somewhere, whether I’m repairing something or in case of a blackout. The OGERY Z10 is an interesting light that I “flipped” for. How? Let’s see.

Design and features
This comes in three colors: Blue, black and orange. I got the orange one. The lamp itself is shaped like a cylinder when all the panels are folded in.
Around the base are the two buttons (brightness, power/mode) and four LED lights for battery levels. The charging port is USB-C but the lamp also serves as a power bank when used with a USB-A cable (not included).
The three LED panels unfold like the petals of a flower. Each panel can point at a different direction, or sit at a different angle from the others.
Here I tried to capture all three lights pointed in different directions. Note that each light can rotate as well as unfold.
The top of the lamp is a single LED that acts as a standard flashlight. On the bottom is a very clever folding hook and some powerful magnets.
Assembly, Installation, Setup
The bottom of the lantern screws onto the top of the stand. It’s not a standard photo tripod thread, and it’s not a mic stand thread. Bigger.
The tripod style legs have about a 24″ span across. It stands at about 73″ (a bit over 6 feet) to the top of the lantern.
Performance
With the two buttons, you can either cycle through the various color temperatures (each panel is made up of two types of white light), or cycle through brightness levels, flashing, or top flashlight.
I tested the runtime after a full charge. With the panels on the brightest setting, I got just around 8 hours before it shut itself off. I’m sure it’ll run much longer on a lower setting.
This is the “flashlight” mounted at the top.
I set the lamp in a darkened school yard. Pretty bright!
The first time I deployed the tripod legs, a rubbery foot flew off. Don’t lose it! It fits back into place.
At about 6 feet tall, this thing is pretty top-heavy. Slowly I measured the angle at which everything extended to the highest and the tripod spread out the widest. I measured 9 degrees from vertical. After that, it’ll tip. That’s one of the legs lifting at the tipping angle.
Final thoughts
I really like how versatile the panels are. Now I can light up the area around me, or point in one direction, or even a little of both! That hook will come in handy for tent camping, and the magnetic base will let me get some light when working under the hood of a car. I like the traffic cone-colored orange. It’s pretty conspicuous! Hopefully nobody tips it over at full height, since it’ll go over at 9 degrees from vertical.
What I like about the OGERY Z10 Camp Light
- Movable light panels
- Mount on the included stand, built-in hook, or magnet
- Long runtime
What needs to be improved?
- Be careful about accidental tipping when the stand is extended. Always spread the legs to its full width.
