REVIEW – We have slowly been going through each room in our house trying to make little changes that improve the quality of the room. I am so excited to be able to review the Lumary B1 smart ceiling fan light. I have been waiting for something to put into my craft room that can brighten up everything. In addition to the different lights, I also get a fan! There are few things in life that bring me more joy than sitting under a fan and being creative. My husband is worried that he won’t be seeing me anymore now that I have a little utopian room in our house.

Design and features

I think my children misheard me when I said this is the “CRAFT” room, not the “CRAP” room. All the leftover items, things that don’t fit or never get touched, old projects, and so much more gets tossed into this room. The Lumary ceiling fan can add the light I need to  really be able to see what needs to be done, and take care of all the things that have been piling up.

The Lumary ceiling fan has all the RGB goodness possible. The box even says that there are over 16 million different color combinations that can be used. Amazing. Now I can see all the messes in the brightest white of colors or any other shade of the rainbow.

First of all, I can still use my light switch to turn this fan and light combo on or off. I get ultra frustrated when I have to have a special something to do all the work. What happens if that thing gets lost? Or the batteries die? The light switch remembers what the light setting was last set on, but not the fan. So it is really nice to be able to rely on the light switch, even if it isn’t exactly what I want. I’m glad that I can still use it. The remote has all the buttons that you would need to be able to change any of the settings on the fan unit. This is nice because I will occasionally leave my electronic devices upstairs so I won’t be bothered while I am crafting. I am not planning on changing the light too much during those moments, but the fan is something that will get used a lot. There is little to no air flow in that room, even if the window is open, so a fan is definitely something that has been on my wish list for a long time. My phone has all the controls in the Lumary App. This app allows me to change the white balance, the different colors, color scenes, how often things change, how bright or dim everything is, how fast or slow things are moving, and so much more. The app is the total package deal. My kids have similar fans in their rooms, but they rely solely on the remote. I am so glad that if I lost everything else, I would still be able to open the app on my phone and get exactly what I was looking for.

This ceiling and fan combo unit also is a smart device. You can hook Alexa, or Google up, and use voice control to activate different settings. One of the most common phrases I use is “turn the light to bright white”. I don’t want to have to mess around and take the time to adjust the brightness, or anything, I just want to be able to see what I am working on.

Another one of my favorite settings on the remote is a little button that has a moon and star. Night mode. It turns off the main light, and leaves a slight warm white glow to act as a night light. I’m sure most of the fancy features are being wasted in the craft room, because I spend more time working than relaxing, but it is such an awesome fan.

The air flow isn’t as wide as I would like, but it’s not quite as directed as some of the other fans that I have felt. Luckily, my craft room is pretty small, so even a small amount of airflow can make a huge difference.

The blades on this fan are clear. They are so pretty right now, and reflect the light in such a nice way. I’m a little scared to see what happens when they get more dust and fluff on them. They hide nothing. I already had to clean off a bunch of marker colorings from my tiny Davinci. I will just have to be willing to clean the fan blades more often I guess.

Everything you need for set up is supplied in the box. I am not an electrician, so I called on someone else to come and install the fan. I don’t think it is complicated, but I also don’t like to mess around with electricity. There are two wires, and a ground wire. There is also a nice metal hook that keeps the fan from falling if you slip, or something isn’t tightened. I love the extra precautions that are included in installation.

Now all that’s left is to play around and get everything set up the way you like it. We have different phrases that are said such as “the girls are ready for bed”. When Alexa hears this, all the lights in the girls’ room are turned off, the noise machine is turned on, and the nightlight is activated. Including this fan and light into the routines is going to help a lot. My happy place is now even happier.

Final thoughts

With so many things that get pushed to the side, I am so glad to be able to add some nice light, air flow, and color to make the craft room fun once again! I love the different settings that I can program. I don’t know how I ever lived without the airflow. I know there are plenty of fan options, but this one has all the bells and whistles. It is fun and functional. Easy to install, and easy to control.
