REVIEW – Having what seems like a fleet of bicycles and a myriad of fun things that all require inflation like float tubes, paddle boards, and kayaks means a lot of work to keep things topped off. I have several air pumps and while it’s not bad exercise, it’s not my favorite thing to do. Enter the STRAUTO Rechargeable Universal Inflator. If the sales info is right, it’s essentially a Swiss Army knife for everything you may need to inflate. Read on to see how it holds up in testing.

Design and features

The basic functionality of this tool is pretty simple. Beyond that, though, the design and features of the package are pretty exceptional, in my opinion. The screen and buttons of the interface are fairly intuitive and easy to use. The center power button is also used to initiate inflation/deflation when you are set to go. You can increase or decrease the pressure required with the +/- buttons. You can cycle between the different presets with the button on the right and turn the built-in light on with the button on the left.

It took me far too long to figure out what SUP and that picture means.

With the light on. It’s not super bright, but it’s enough to help you in a pinch when it’s dark out.

STRAUTO Universal Inflator 20

One of the less advertised functions, you can also charge another device in a pinch. It doesn’t have a huge battery, so this is probably more of an emergency option if you don’t have other charging sources.

Performance

First thing I inflated was a couple of bike tires on a Schwinn that hasn’t seen much use recently. The back tire was very low and the front tire was completely flat. This is starting with a battery charge of about 90%.

STRAUTO Universal Inflator 19

About 30 seconds to inflate a bike tire from flat to full. I was pretty impressed.

Testing out a small soccer ball. Selecting the “ball” setting was easy. Just make sure that you adjust the psi setting for the individual ball if it’s different than the preset. Very quick inflate.

Using the large hose inflator on a paddleboard was something I really wanted to test out. The included hand pumps for them are nice, but it take a lot of work and time. There are several different adaptors for the large hose inflator, so that’s a nice feature.

Starting from zero.

STRAUTO Universal Inflator 14

Empty to Full on a paddleboard took about 2 minutes. It was fantastic.

The deflate option is also handy. Anyone who has tried to wring the last bit of air out of a kayak or paddle board knows how painful that can be. To use the deflate option, you have to shift the air hose from the inflate port to the deflate port. It’s easy enough.

STRAUTO Universal Inflator 8

Deflation was very quick. Between testing and everything else, it brought the battery down to about 66 percent.

Final thoughts

This is a fantastic inflator. Lots of options and built-in presets that I really like. The one setting that I didn’t figure out until just now, as I was writing the review, is the SUP setting. (Stand-Up Paddleboard). The rechargeable battery is a great option in an inflator like this, and the only thing I would potentially change is to put a larger battery in. You can do quite a bit with the 2500 mAh battery included, but even bumping it up to a 5000 mAh battery would be a really nice addition. I would definitely recommend this inflator to anyone looking for a good inflator with lots of options in a compact package.

What I like about the STRAUTO Rechargeable Universal Inflator

  • Lots of adapters
  • Preset configurations for most common inflating applications
  • Everything in one complete package
  • Emergency phone charger in a pinch

What needs to be improved?

  • Bump up the battery size a little
