REVIEW – In the last 1-2 years, I’ve become a little bit of a mechanical keyboard nerd or geek. I guess I can’t really call myself a nerd because I don’t know everything about mechanical keyboards. But I do know that I prefer them and that I enjoy testing them. When a review opportunity comes up, there’s an option to pick the switches used on the keyboard, and many times, I wonder what those switches might feel and sound like. The Keychron Switch Tester 100 is designed for precisely that purpose. Let me tell you more.

Design and features
This is basically a 100 x 100 switch keyboard that you can’t use with your computer 😉 But you can use to see what each switch sounds like and feels like.
The Switch Tester has 100 different switches installed with 100 clear ABS key caps that have a label with the name of the switch printed on it.
The bottom of the keyboard has flip out feet.
Not that it really matters if this keyboard is ergonomic or not 😉 Ha!
If you have problems reading the labels on the keycaps themselves, you can consult the included paper “map”.
If you want to get up close and personal, you can use the included tool to remove the keycaps.
You can even hot swap the switches if you want to add others for testing.
It’s too bad that this tester wasn’t a real keyboard… Imagine if it was a huge macro pad!

Final thoughts
There isn’t a lot more that I can say about the Keychrom Switch Tester. I realize that this is a novelty item for most people. But I know that mechanical keyboard fans like myself and many of you will find it interesting so I couldn’t help but jump at the chance to try it out.
What I like about the Keychron Switch Tester
- It’s a cool toy for keyboard nerds
- It’s an easy way to compare switch feel and sound all in one unit
What needs to be improved?
- Turn it into a huge macro pad!
