Design and features
I would say that overall, the Trucozie 8-in-1 Lightweight Vacuum is pretty similar to the plethora of other battery operated stick vacuums. It looks similar to other current day battery powered stick vacuums in that the handheld part is the meat of the system, having the capability to have each of the accessories directly mated to it, or to the end of the 12-position (18” to 27”) Adjustable Extension Tube. In either case, power is routed to the LED Motorized Floor Brush should that be attached.
The Trucozie 8-in-1 Lightweight Vacuum comes in five distinct colors. I received the black version with gold accents. The other colors include Red, White, Blue, and Pink.
The Trucozie 8-in-1 Lightweight Vacuum comes with three separate attachments: the LED Motorized Floor Roller-brush, Crevice Tool, and Sofa Brush. Depending on how they’re attached—either to the adjustable extension tube or directly to the handheld vacuum—you can get to six tools. However, the Crevice Tool has a secret: it’s actually two tools in one, providing the remaining two tools, making a total of eight tools, depending on how you configure the attachments, extension tube, and the handheld vacuum.
The controls are pretty straight forward as there are only two buttons on the Trucozie 8-in-1 Lightweight Vacuum. One is the push button on and off switch, while the other push button cycles through the three differing power levels the Trucozie offers at each push of the button.
The Trucozie 8-in-1 Lightweight Vacuum has a very informative display, having a four segment indicator for the battery’s current state of charge, as well as an indicator for the current power level, or sucking strength, of which there are three levels. In addition, should the Motorized Floor Brush get jammed, the display will light up a Red indicator that indicates the roller-brush is / has been stuck or tangled. Whenever this is detected, the roller-brush is stopped.
To help with bad tangles the Trucozie includes a tangle cutter which can be used to safely cut the tangle out from the roller-brush. Even though the Trucozie has stopped driving the roller-brush, for safety reasons, the unit should be shut off and the battery removed before attempting to cut out a tangle. In addition, the Trucozie has a mechanism to completely remove the roller-brush from the Motorized Floor Brush attachment.
One feature I particularly appreciate about the Trucozie 8-in-1 Lightweight Vacuum is its removable battery. The fact that the battery, which is often the weakest component in any battery-powered device, is removable should at least provide the option to purchase a new battery in the future if needed. However, currently the website doesn’t offer a separate battery for the Trucozie 8-in-1 Lightweight Vacuum. I hope this option becomes available in the future.
Assembly, Installation, Setup
The Trucozie 8-in-1 Lightweight Vacuum doesn’t require any special setup beyond charging the battery and attaching the desired attachments and extensions. While it comes with a hanging apparatus that uses the included screws and wall anchors, I opted not to use that feature, as storing it in the corner works better for me.
Performance
The Trucozie 8-in-1 Lightweight Vacuum immediately caught my attention with its remarkably quiet operation. Although I don’t have a sound meter to quantify the difference, I can confidently say that it’s noticeably quieter compared to another stick vacuum I previously reviewed.
The Trucozie 8-in-1 Lightweight Vacuum’s marketing literature claims a runtime of 45 minutes in low mode, 25 minutes in medium mode, and 20 minutes at the highest speed. I measured the time it took for the unit to power down at full speed, with the LED Motorized Floor Brush attached, and found it to be just over 22 minutes. Considering that none of these systems have the same suction power as their plugged-in counterparts, I believe that in most cases, the unit will be operating at its maximum speed, and 20 minutes of operation is really a very useful value.
Following the power test above, it took approximately 4 to 4.5 hours to fully charge the unit to 100% with the included AC Adapter. I want to note that in today’s times, in my opinion at least, all charging of any portable handheld device should be done by USB-C, and unfortunately, the Trucozie, or the other handheld vacuum I tested, does that.
Another notable feature of the display is that during charging, the four segment battery state of charge indicator transforms into a cascading status indicator, providing a visual representation of the battery charging progress. It is very nice to see how far along the battery is charged.
Given that the battery is detachable, it’s not surprising that it can be charged separately, disconnected from the handheld vacuum. However, when charging this way, the user loses the ability to monitor the battery’s current charge level beyond a single LED on the battery. This LED indicates that charging is still in progress if it’s on or has been completed if it’s off. Since this binary indicator provides no way to determine the battery’s charge progress, it’s a significant drawback compared to the display’s charge progress fidelity when charging while connected to the handheld unit. Nevertheless, the convenience of charging the battery separately is a positive aspect of the Trucozie.
Finally, like most handheld vacuums, the emptying of debris sucked up is handled by unhooking the bottom of the handheld and emptying the contents into a trash can or bag. Similar to other systems, the HEPA filter can be removed for easy cleaning. One of the Trucozie’s unique features, mentioned above, is the roller-brush tangle cutter tool. The other end of this tool contains a soft brush to clean the metal mesh filter just outside the HEPA filter. This allows for the cleaning of the device without the need to use your fingers for this kind of gross task.
Final thoughts
Overall, I think the Trucozie 8-in-1 Lightweight Vacuum is a good choice should you be in the market for one of these very flexible handheld vacuums. It is quiet, and seemed strong enough when operating at full blast.
The flexibility of the LED Motorized Floor Brush, and slim design allow for the easy maneuvering of the vacuum under and around common obstacles. The 6 light LED array provides for ample lighting while using the vacuum in every situation.
Finally, the removable battery should allow for a replacement down the road should the included battery deteriorate to the point of rendering the vacuum cleaner useless. Let’s hope that Trucozie sees fit to provide a replacement for this very important component of any handheld vacuum system.
