Design and features
I have to say that when I first opened the box I was very surprised at how small the Wuben G5 flashlight is. From the initial pictures I saw, I was expecting a larger flashlight and was not expecting something this tiny. The overall design of this flashlight is squarish with a head that swivels 180 degrees. It has a spring tensioned clip that also can be adjusted 180 degrees to clip on things.
The power switch on the side has three different positions; Locked, On, and Charging. The Charging position reveals the USB-C charging port, so it’s multi-functional and a clever design, in my opinion.
When the power switch is in the On or Charging positions, you can turn on the light by pressing the circular button above the power switch and also adjust the brightness of the light with the dial next to it.
The bottom of the light has one of my favorite functions: a built-in magnet that’s strong enough to hold it in place upside down or on its side.
Setup
Plug it in and charge it. That’s all the setup necessary.
Performance
The brightness of this flashlight is more than sufficient for use out and about. It’s not quite as strong as other flashlights I’ve reviewed before that can light up things hundreds of yards away, but for the size, it’s pretty impressive. Below is the brightest setting and was more than enough to light up my backyard.
Lowest white setting was dim, but functional.
Red light would be good for astronomical use.
The different color flashing options may be useful in an emergency signaling situation, but not much beyond that.
The clip is pretty great. Even works of the brim of a hat if you need it.
Final thoughts
While unconventional and different than other flashlights I’ve used before, the Wuben G5 flashlight has grown on me. It has a lot of fun features and it is quite handy. The only feature I don’t like is the flashing blue and red option. While it may not be an issue in other countries, it’s too easy to be confused with law enforcement in the United States and you may have to have a difficult conversation with a cop if you use it out and about. Avoid that feature and everything else is pretty great. I definitely recommend this little light.
What I like about the WUBEN G5 EDC flashlight
- It’s small and easy to clip to a shirt or hat
- Magnet for hands free use
- The adjustable light pivots and you can direct it where you need it
What needs to be improved?
- No flashing blue/red function to avoid issues with law enforcement

I love Wuben flashlights, they’re just small little tanks that work. I personally have 2 Wuben E7s… One sits in my car, the other in my EDC kit.
