REVIEW – One of the biggest concerns with being outdoors and activities like camping, water sports, fishing, and hiking is keeping electronics and other sensitive items dry and protected. The Evergreen 56 case definitely fits the bill and provides a durable, waterproof dry box to keep your gear safe regardless of the adventure you’re on.

Design and features
This is a solidly built dry box. It’s large enough to hold several devices and other items that you may need to protect. I was able to put in a smart phone, flashlight, wallet, Altoids tin, and earbuds.
The design I chose was the North West, which has art of Yellowstone, Grand Teton, and Glacier National Parks on it. They’re some of my favorite places to go and I love the design. They also have designs for several other national parks so you can choose your preference. There is also a topological design if you prefer that as well.
The bottom of the box has a rubber eggshell design to cradle things and act as a shock absorber.
The top of the lid also has a rubber mesh panel to hold cards or other small items.
The front latch of the case lets you lock it shut so that it doesn’t pop open.
The sides of the case have many options for strapping down to a kayak or a bag or whatever situation. Lots of flexibility of use.
Performance
Filled up, the container came in at 41 ounces. The advertised float value of the case is 3 pounds (48 ounces). I wanted to see how well it floated because one of the worst things to happen on a trip is to drop your phone or wallet in the water and see it sink out of sight.
Time for a dunk test! I had to see how well it would hold up in water and with an extended soak, so I threw it into the sink and started the water.
Filled up, it floats very well! I left it in the water for six hours to see if the water penetrated at all.
Everything came out dry! No water made it inside, even after being forced under the water and held there.
Final thoughts
This is a fantastic dry box. I was initially surprised by the size, but after loading it up with stuff, throwing it in water and seeing it still float and keep everything dry I was sold. If you are out on the water this is a great way to be sure that your stuff is dry and also not going to sink to the bottom if it falls in the water.
