NEWS – The new company behind the Pebble watch re-make just announced the watches are available to order. I got an email at 2:27 PM Eastern time that provided this preorder link from Eric Magicovsky’s new company, Core Devices.
These watches look like the former Pebble 2, which is what I think will most satisfy former Pebble owners. Full details on both watches are here.

- Linear resonance actuator (quieter and stronger than vibrating motor)
- More reliable buttons (up to 30% longer lifetime in testing)

Core Time 2 specs
- 64-colour 1.5” e-paper display. Same display as Pebble Time 2 – much more room for text and details (53% bigger and 88% more pixels)
- Runs 10,000+ Pebble apps and watchfaces
- Metal frame and buttons (Black/White and likely a 3rd colour option as well)
- 30 day battery life (estimate)
- Flat glass lens (less glare and reflections than Pebble Time family curved lens)
- Touch screen
- Heart rate monitor
- Water resistant (targeting IPX8)

From the website:
“Each watch runs open source PebbleOS. This enables all the baseline Pebble features like receiving notifications, timeline, watchfaces, alarms, timers, calendar, music control, basic fitness tracking, etc.”
Former Pebble owners will be eager to strap one of these on again. You can pre-order yours now.

STILL waiting for the ios app in the app store.
I never understood why fitbit promptly killed off the pebble after they acquired the tech. I understand that from a functionality point the pebble wasn’t close to the Samsung or Apple smart watches. But they did 3 things better (and still do).
1. Tell Time in all conditions at a simple glance
2. Quick Notices and messages at a simple glance
3. Not require daily charging
My current Gen (2024) Samsung is way heavier and thicker than my old pebble round, and only lasts 2 days MAX. Does my Samsung to 400x more things? Yes of course it does, but I almost NEVER use any of them. I would love a watch that told the time, and gave me at a glance notifications that I could forget to charge for weeks at a time.
I Really hope these take back off.
