REVIEW – It’s new phone case season. If you were gifted a new device during the recent/current gift-giving season, you’re probably in the market. We were recently offered two different styles of Kevlar® cases from Benks. I’ve broken the reviews apart because they really are distinct. The Aurora ArmorAir Case built with Kevlar for iPhone 16 Pro Max is the one I’m considering today. It is a minimal case, but with Kevlar to protect the rear enclosure and edges from damage. It’s available in several colorways to suit your style.

Design and features
The Benks Aurora ArmorAir Case built with Kevlar® for iPhone 16 Pro Max is just barely there. There is a single very thin layer of Kevlar around the edges, almost no lip to hold it off the table if you place your phone face down, and no covers for the buttons or camera control. The rear enclosure and bottom ports/speaker are fully covered, but only by a very thin layer of material. The woven pattern of the Kevlar looks and feels soft and grippy, but there’s not much of it there. The rear camera “mesa” is protected by a raised plastic rim that is sloped so as not to be sharp against your fingers.
Just out of the box, the Benks Kevlar cases looked identical. When I put them on, however, they were very different. The ArmorAir is very thin, and just barely covers all the important bits of your phone. There are no button covers. It clings like a leech when you try to take it off, which is what you want. There is almost no lip over the screen edge, so putting the device face down may not be a good idea in some environments, but there is a tiny lip.
Setup
It’s a case. Put it on your phone. I recommend putting it on starting with the edge that has the most buttons first. Your mileage may vary.
Performance
I found this case to be very good at what I want out of a case – it allows me to find a non-slippery place to hold the phone, and gives a little protection to all those glass lenses on the back. The buttons are open, but the ports and speaker are covered.
Final thoughts
If you want a phone that is covered but as close to the “naked robotic core” of the iPhone as possible, this may be the case for you. It clings to the phone (and is difficult for reviewers to remove!), but fully protects the ports, camera lenses, and back. The MagSafe feature works well, so your phone is very secure with magnetic handles and stands.
