REVIEW – The name brand of a set of headphones really piqued my interest and I had to check them out further. They are the Studio Max D1 DJ Wireless Headphones and are made by the company OneOdio. I’m not sure where the company name originated, but the word Odio in Spanish means hate, so I thought it was curious to have a possible mixed translation of One Hate. The headphones looked pretty cool, though, so I had to give them a whirl and I have to say that they are pretty fantastic so far from my testing. Read on to see how they held up!
What is it?

Design and features
These are some solid headphones. Since they are touted as DJ Headphones they also come with a variety of different connectivity options beyond your standard Bluetooth or 3.5mm cable. They come with a M1 adapter that connects to the headphones at a lower latency connection. I thought it was interesting option that I hadn’t seen before in headphones. One of the primary use cases I could think of is in a performance setup you may not want to rely on Bluetooth in a crowd and being tethered to a cable has its own drawback. What I did not anticipate was how amazing the sound quality from that low latency M1 connector would sound. It’s fantastic!
Setup
Setup of the Bluetooth on these headphones is pretty standard for Bluetooth. Turn it on, find the headphones on your phone or computer, connect and away you go. Connecting was very simple and showed up immediately. OneOdio does not have an app or separate configuration option, so what you see is what you get, which I actually can appreciate. I already have too many apps…
Setup of the M1 adapter took a second to figure out. This was WORTH IT. The instructions for this function are literally 3 sentences long. I set up the adapter on my laptop in the audio 3.5mm port and turned it on.
To turn it on, you have to hold the button down for a couple of seconds and wait for all the lights to turn on.
The adapter has its own battery and USB-C port, so you’ll need to ensure that it is charged as well. Once I got all the cabling set up, the headphones did not automatically connect, so I had to dig in a bit further to figure it out. Since I was connected on my laptop, I had to go into the audio settings and dig in a bit. I was able to figure out that I needed to select the M1 specifically and then it connected fine. You can see that below.
Separate from connecting things up, these are some hefty headphones. I had to check out the weight while I was testing. Not a problem, just kind of fun to note.
Performance
The first thing I have to say about these headphones is that the battery life is incredible. On a full charge and running on Bluetooth, these are rated to run for 120 hours. I couldn’t even begin to make a significant dent in the charge of these. I think that in the course of use over the last month between my son and me, I think that the charge was down to 87 percent the last time I checked.
The sound performance of these headphones is fantastic. Bluetooth performance is very good and on par with the best Bluetooth headphones that I’ve used and tested in other reviews. Where the sound performance really thrives is in the M1 Audio adapter. It uses Rapid WiLL+, which stands for Rapid Wireless Low Latency Link, which I have to say provides an incredibly clear sound. I was able to connect the headphones with the M1 transmitter on my laptop and also able to connect to a cell phone via a USB Type C connector. The sound quality on both was fantastic.
I am very impressed by the build of these headphones. The articulation of the joints is great.
Final thoughts
These are great headphones. The biggest problem I ran into was my teenage son snitching them so he could use them. While I’m not a DJ and perhaps not the target demographic in their branding, they are very comfortable headphones, and the connectivity options are very nice. The sound is very immersive and the larger drivers are great. I was a bit skeptical of the M1 low latency transmitter at first, but I am sold on it. Sound quality over Bluetooth is generally okay and can be good, but this adapter is incredible. It is an additional step, but the quality is fantastic. My daughter listened to a song that she has heard dozens of times before and she said that the quality sounded like a live performance. I’m not sure what science went into it, but I love it. I definitely recommend these headphones, especially if you’re looking for great sound.
