REVIEW – Do you have a phone mount in your car? Do you like the way it’s installed? Does it look like it was made for your car or did it require a suction cup, adhesives, or some kind of weird cupholder thingy? ProClip will make your car mount look like it came factory-installed. Let’s check it out.
What is it?
ProClip is a company that makes clips designed for the exact year, make, and model of your car. The clip is generic in that you can choose from a selection of different phone holders that are attached to it.
The ordering process is easy using the comprehensive selector tools on the ProClip site.
The first step is to input your car’s make, model, and year.
Then, you will see the clip options.
Then you can choose the phone that you want to use with the clip.
You’ll then see the different phone mount options that are available to you.
What’s included?
I was sent the ProClip designed specifically for my 2013 MINI Cooper. That’s shown above on the left. I was also sent an adjustable phone holder and a MagicMount Pro charger mount from Scosche.
ProClip
- ProClip Angled Mount for my car
- Wedge tool
- Alcohol pad
- User guide
The ProClip is made of rugged high quality ABS plastic with a textured finish that makes it look matches the look of the dash of my MINI Cooper.
This clip is one piece, so there are no moving parts that rattle or vibrate when you’re driving. The inside of the clip has adhesive pads that ensure it is rock solid even when you’re flying over potholes!
Adjustable Phone Holder
- Adjustable Phone Holder (available in sizes for phones with thin cases or rugged cases)
- Screws to attach the holder to the ProClip
- User guide
The holder is made of ABS plastic that matches the look of the ProClip.
On the back is a balljoint mount with holes that mate up with the holes on the ProClip.
The holder has spring-loaded jaws that allow it to grip your phone even if it’s in a case. You can choose from a version for medium sized cases, and a version of the holder for rugged/thick cases. The one shown here is for medium cases.
Scosche MagicMount Pro wireless charger
- MagicMount charger
- Steel badge for phones without MagSafe
- Screws to attach the holder to the ProClip
- User guide
I picked the Scosche MagicMount Pro because of its built-in MagSafe compatibility and wireless charging features. Note that if you don’t have an iPhone that has MagSafe, you can still use this charger with the included magnetic badge. This charger is teardrop-shaped and features a soft silicone base.
On the back is a ball for the ball and socket mount plate. You’ll also notice that it has a cable. This is a permanent cable that plugs into the included 12V adapter.
Here’s how you’ll mount the charger to the ProClip.
Here’s a size comparison with the charger attached to my iPhone 16 Pro Max.
Installing the ProClip in my 2013 MINI Cooper
As you can see, my car’s interior doesn’t leave much room for a phone charging solution. The ProClip is going to solve that problem.
The installation instructions are easy to read and understand.
The installation was equally easy. The ProClip has two clips. The top one slides in between the top of the glove box and air vent. ProClip provides a small wedge tool that you use to open up the gap to make it easier to seat the clip.
With the top clip seated, it’s just a matter of pressing firmly to snap the lower clip in place.
Here’s a look at the ProClip snapped in place. Now it’s time to attach the phone mount. ProClip sent me two options, but I decided to go with the Scosche charger.
Attaching the phone mount to the clip is easy. All I needed was a small Phillips screwdriver to tighten the screws and it was done.
Well, there was one final step – routing the wires for the charger.
Two small stick on cable holders were included to make the install look a little more professional.
Here is the current install. You can see that I tucked the extra cable in the open space behind the ProClip. It doesn’t look terrible, but it could be better. At some point, I’m going to redo it and see if I can route the cable between the bottom glove box and under the plastic molding so that it will be hidden.
But for now, the ProClip with the Scosche MagicMount wireless charger does exactly what I want it to do. It gives me an easy way to mount and charge my phone when I’m zipping around town.
If I adjust the angle of the MagicMount, I can even rotate the phone into a horizontal orientation which would be useful for watching YouTube videos if I need to kill time when I’m not driving.
What I like about the ProClip phone mount
- Looks stock
- Easy to install
- Inexpensive
- Several phone holder options to choose from
What needs to be improved?
- Nothing
Final thoughts
The ProClip phone mount is a fantastic option for anyone looking to keep their phone handy while driving. No matter what car you have, it will fit perfectly, making it look like it was part of the car from the start. Plus, it’s super sturdy, so you won’t have to worry about it rattling around while driving over bumps.
One of the coolest things about ProClip is that you can choose from different phone holders, including ones that charge your phone wirelessly. This makes it super convenient to use your phone for navigation or music without fumbling around.
If you’re tired of those sticky suction cups or awkward cupholder mounts, the ProClip is a great upgrade. It’s easy to install and doesn’t mess with your car’s interior. Overall, if you want a reliable way to mount your phone that looks good and works well, the ProClip is definitely worth checking out!
Price: $39.99 for the specific ProClip reviewed here. Phone mounts are an additional charge.

I have ProClips in my vehicles. They are wonderful and rock solid. The phone never moves or vibrates. Highly recommended.
Thanks for the extra thumbs up vote Donald!

It cost me around $70 for the base and mount. Too expensive for what you get and I hated the fact that it made the phone too far away and below my line of sight. I have a Toyota 4-Runner.
Max, it’s a bummer that it didn’t work out of your and your particular vehicle. Did you find a better alternative?

Hi Julie – Yes I’m using a generic magnet mount the size of a quarter stuck to the dash and the receiver is a round thin piece of metal inside the phone case.
That’s about as minimalist as it gets! I do like the ProClip in my MINI. It provides the perfect view of the phone if needed while driving.

I’ve always used Pro Clips to mount smartphones in my cars. Currently, I have their vent mount holder and the Mighty Might MagSafe charger. The MM grips the phone and has little feet to keep it secure. The magnetic-only holder kept dropping the phone when driving on unpaved roads, which I do a lot of.
