The Gardyn Home Kit 4.0 is a hydroponic system designed to grow food in the home. It features 3 columns attached to a base that holds the water for watering the plants and the pump that creates the water flow. There are 2 vertical lights in front of the plant pods and each light pole has a built-in camera that allows for timelapse footage. Most of the kit is made from plastic.
Assembly, Installation, Setup
Assembling the Gardyn Home Kit 4.0 is simple and the instructions are easy to follow. The assembly involves attaching the poles that support the plant pods to the base and attaching the light poles to the front. The entire process takes around 30 to 45 minutes depending on your effort and understanding of the instructions. The nutrients and the 40 plant cubes with seeds are included so you can immediately start the growing process.
Performance
Once the Gardyn 4.0 kit is set up and the cubes are planted in the Pods, it is just an easy game of waiting for the plants to grow. My wife planted several types of green leaf salad-type plants, such as lettuce, peppers, and cherry tomatoes. Everything grew successfully. The main control of the plants, as they grow, is the app that tells things like when to water and other tasks that need to be performed.

The Gardyn 4.0 is one of my wife’s most loved hydroponic systems to date. It is so well designed that the process of growing and experimenting with plants of your choice is easy. The growing lights are well placed and provide great coverage for all of the pods, and each growing light pole has a built-in camera one at the top of one pole and one in the middle of the other. Together they provide video coverage for all other pods. My wife constantly comments about how much she loves the app and that the entire interaction is so well-designed. Do keep in mind that there is an optional subscription that offers way more features than the free version. The refill supplies are affordably priced and can be easily obtained via the Gardyn website

What needs to be improved?
- The seed cubes should be properly packaged so that the seeds do not fall out during shipping and unpacking
- It would be nice if the lights could be adjusted horizontally across the front of the pods.
Final thoughts
The Gardyn Home Kit 4.0 is a great execution of a hydroponics system. it is well built, produces consistent successful growth, works well with the app to tell the owner exactly what to do and when to do it, and all of the necessary supplies are available via their website at a reasonable cost.
