ARTICLE – It’s been a while since I posted a “what’s in my bag” post. In this article, I’m showing you what’s currently in the bag that I grab when I leave the house. I didn’t edit the contents at all. I just dumped everything that was in the bag and took the picture that you see above. So, what do we have?
- Bellroy Lite Sling Mini bag that I have been using ever since I reviewed it last fall
- Akeeni XSTO minimalist wallet that is one of my all-time favorite wallets because it holds all the cards I need in addition to some folded cash
- Field Notes notebook
- Generic pen
- Carmex lip balm
- USB-A to USB-C cable
- Handful of coins
- Two mini binder clips
- Wint-o-green mints
- Tissues
- MINI Cooper car fob
- Apple AirTag (not pictured)
- iPhone 15 Pro Max (not pictured)
That’s all of the items that I’ve been carrying with me when I’m out and about. My first edit is to add a pair of fingernail clippers. I didn’t want a normal (generic) pair of clippers because I’m the Gadgeteer and I like to have unique gear that is also useful.
I went shopping on Amazon and bought (with my own $) several nail clippers to test out.
- Victorinox clippers
- Thinslimer Victorinox knock-off clippers (3 per pack)
- Mr. Green Ultra Thin clippers
- Haisoboya clippers with key ring
Which one did I go with? I go into detail about each set of clippers in the video below and let you know.
Watch the video and then let me know if you have a favorite pair of EDC nail clippers that I didn’t cover.
Next week I plan to make a video about mini pens. Make sure you subscribe to my YouTube channel and/or subscribe to the Gadgeteer newsletter so you won’t miss it. I will also have a wallet video, a flashlight video, and a knife video as I switch up my EDC.

The clipper of your choice (Mr. Green) is a chinese copy of an even more expensive german one (Zwilling). Amazon sells the chinese one for $22.90, but you can get it in Aliexpress for $15.00 with free shipping.
Joseph, thanks for letting me know. I didn’t thought that the Mr. Green version was an original brand since the description said it was German. Here’s a link to the “real” clippers:
Here is a fingernail clipper that you should check out that is built into a EDC Swiss Army Knife – https://www.amazon.com/product-reviews/B00KQBKNGY/ref=acr_dp_hist_5?ie=UTF8&filterByStar=five_star&reviewerType=all_reviews#reviews-filter-bar,v . Victorinox Nail Clip 580, 8 Functions, Swiss Made Multi-Tool with Nail File, Nail Cleaner and Small Blade – Red
Hmmm, that is an interesting idea to go with that one since it also has a tiny pair of scissors, a file, and even a knife. Thanks for the idea.
Hi Julie,
I’m a loyal fan and have bought my fair share of stuff you have through your links and generally agree with your assessments. For this nail clipper video…you didn’t touch on what they actually do and that is how they cut nails. I have had my fair share of cheap nail clippers that weren’t strong enuf to clip my nails and then some that the clipping lever bent before it cut the nail. And still another that didn’t clip through my nail even though the lever had been pressed to the opposing metal opposing side. But this gives me a good starting point. Unfortunately, my experience with nail clippers is you get what you pay for, but if I could find an inexpensive clipper that didn’t wimp, I’d be buying it. thanks for the reviews and appreciate your work and daily emails!! I don’t have exceptionally tough nails, probably normal nails, in fact!!
Frango, I didn’t want to show the actual act of cutting nails in the video because I thought it might make some viewers grossed out. I did say that they all cut just fine. They didn’t cut any worse or any better than the regular pair of Walgreens clippers that I also showed. My nails aren’t thick or thin. I think they are average thickness and all of these clippers worked well.
