ENHULK 58V 16” Carbon Fiber Cordless String Trimmer review

Enhulk 58V String Trimmer 01

Review: I was excited to try the ENHULK 58V 16” String Trimmer with carbon fiber shaft since I’ve been using a 20V trimmer and lately it just hasn’t been able to handle my yard on a single charge. Let’s see how the ENHULK 58V 16” String Trimmer performs.

What is it?

The ENHULK 58V 16″ String Trimmer uses a 58V battery system that is compatible with two leaf blowers and a chainsaw in the lineup. I suspect more tools will come out eventually though. It sports a three speed brushless motor with variable speed trigger and a carbon fiber shaft to keep the weight down to 9.8lbs including the battery.

What’s included?

  • 1 x ENHULK 58V string trimmer with folding carbon fiber shaft
  • 1 x Quick adjustable auxiliary handle
  • 1 x Small debris shield
  • 1 x 58V Max 2.5Ah battery
  • 1 x 2.3A charger
  • 1 x User manual
  • 2x Bolts and Torx wrench for the small debris shield

Assembly, installation, and setup

The ENHULK 58V 16″ String Trimmer instructions were easy to follow. I unfolded the carbon fiber shaft, attached the handle, and charged the battery and it was ready to go.

The ENHULK 58V 16″ String Trimmer came with a single 2.5Ah 58V battery. Replacements cost $129.99 and an optional 5.0Ah 58V battery is available for $199.99 which is on par for this capacity battery. I have an Ego leaf blower and the batteries unfortunately were not interchangeable.

The ENHULK 2.3A charger is not much bigger than the battery itself. It can be wall mounted with two screws 3in apart and charges pretty quickly.

Performance

I used Eco mode at first and it was way more powerful than my 20V string trimmer. The brushless motor undoubtedly helps with that as well. On Eco mode it will last 45 minutes which is plenty of time to trim my yard and even some of the overgrown area across the fence. Here’s a video of it in action. About a minute in I rotate through the speeds.

The variable speed trigger was easy to use. There is a little safety lever you must rotate first to avoid accidental operation. The speed adjustment button is easy to reach and cycle to High and Turbo mode. I didn’t really need to use High or Turbo since Eco had plenty of power and I preferred having the longer battery life.

For the first run, I left the small debris guard off, and as expected, my Dad’s socks got pretty peppered by grass debris.

The brushless motor isn’t very loud at all and I was able to operate it comfortably without ear muffs. The battery acts as a nice counterbalance to the motor and makes swinging it back and forth relatively easy. Weighing in at 9.8lbs I did not get fatigued and unlike a gas powered trimmer there was no vibration which was also dampened by the carbon fiber shaft so my fingers weren’t tingling after using it for an extended period. The top of the battery also acts as a nice forearm rest to help hold it up Rambo style.

For edging, I just rotated it, and it works great.

What I like about the ENHULK 58V 16” String Trimmer

  • Super powerful in a light package
  • Good battery life

What needs to be improved?

  • Limited tool selection for now
  • A brush cutter attachment would be nice but not a deal breaker

Final thoughts

The ENHULK 58V 16” cordless string trimmer with an aluminum shaft is only 0.22 lbs heavier than the carbon fiber but costs $45 less at $179.99 (from Amazon and AiDot). With everything else being equal, I would say the ENHULK 58V 16″ string trimmer with an aluminum shaft is probably the better deal. The carbon fiber version did perform extremely well and I was very impressed with its power and battery life. I don’t think you could go wrong with either though and if vibration is a concern then the carbon fiber does help with that. I do hope they come out with more tools eventually, and a brush cutter attachment would be nice, but overall, I was very impressed with the ENHULK 58V 16″ string trimmer.
