Design and features
The VEGER X5 WalletTrack power bank uses plastic, aluminum, zinc, and manganese alloys in its construction, which blocks RFID signal transmission to keep bad guys from skimming your credit card info.
The side of the wallet that faces outward has a credit card holder that can hold two non-embossed credit cards.
The side of the wallet that faces inward has a MagSafe magnet that is 5x the magnetic force of most MagSafe wallets. When you place it on the back of your iPhone, it’s attached securely.
The bottom edge has a USB-C port that you can use to charge the built-in 5000mAh power bank and your devices.
There is a power button, a row of LEDs that provide a visual indicator of the battery capacity, and a mode button that glows red if it’s charging wirelessly and green when charging wired with a USB cable.
I tested the VEGER with my iPhone 15 Pro Max and found that it charged the phone about 8% per 15-minute wireless (MagSafe) charging session.
You can charge two devices at the same time, one with MagSafe wireless charging and one with a USB-C cable.
You’ll notice the corners are chamfered. This small design feature comes in handy when you want to pull the VEGER X5 WalletTrack power bank off the back of your iPhone because the magnets are so strong.
The VEGER does add a bit of bulk to the back of your phone.
But given the fact that you get a 2 card wallet, powerbank, and a tracker (more about that coming up), I can’t complain that much about the size of it.
Using the VEGER X5 as a wallet
The VEGER X5 WalletTrack power bank is better described as a minimalist wallet because it can hold only 1-3 cards and no cash. I was only able to fit 2 unembossed cards in the wallet slot. When I tried a third card, it was just way too tight.
There is an issue retrieving the cards when you need to use them. You have to unfold the kickstand and then use your thumb to slide the top card up from the wallet slot, which I find to be a little annoying.
Given the strong MagSafe magnet, I was slightly concerned about using the VEGER as a wallet. I wondered if it could harm my credit cards. I asked VEGER about this, and they assured me there is enough separation to prevent any damage to the cards from the magnets.
Global tracking with Apple Find My
The VEGER X5 has a built-in tracker with Apple Find My functionality. This means that you can see where the wallet is even it’s way out of Bluetooth range. When the wallet is beyond 50m from your phone, you’ll get a notification.
You can also use a sound to find the wallet in your home, and directions from the Apple Find My app to lead you to its hidden location. If you’ve ever experienced the stress of misplacing your wallet, you’ll love this feature.
But wait, there’s more!
In addition to the features I just mentioned, the VEGER also has a built-in kickstand that you can use to view your phone in portrait or landscape orientation.
What I like about the VEGER X5 WalletTrack power bank
- Power bank
- Apple Find My tracker
- Kickstand
- RFID blocking wallet
What needs to be improved?
- Ability to remove cards without needing to unfold the kickstand
Final thoughts
The VEGER X5 WalletTrack power bank is a great accessory for MagSafe-compatible iPhones. It combines a power bank, wallet, phone stand, and tracker in a relatively compact and lightweight device. I have no problem recommending the VEGER wallet.
