REVIEW – The last ROKR review I did was so much fun that I had to do another one! This time around it’s a musical piano with intricate gears.

The ROKR Magic Piano puzzle is a beautiful little puzzle made from laser cut wood pieces that build around a little spring-wound music box to make a tiny piano that plays when you wind the spring.

Design and features
The layout of the inside of this box is meticulous. Everything fits well in the package and almost everything is labeled well and follows the instructions exactly. The instructions themselves are very detailed and you can tell that they put a lot of thought and testing into them.
Assembly
These instructions for the ROKR Magic Piano puzzle are fantastic. All of the pieces are labeled and organized on each sheet by letter and number. The exploded view of the parts and how they fit together is a great way to visualize how things are supposed to come together. The tiny screws and other fasteners even have a little legend that you can compare size against to make sure that you have the right piece.
This puzzle set differed slightly from the last set in that there are two different wood colors instead of one. This is the one area that I had a small problem with. When they engraved the darker sheet, the letters and numbers did not take very well and were hard to see. I was still able to figure it out, so it didn’t prevent me from building the puzzle.
The progression of the ROKR Magic Piano puzzle was pretty straightforward. You have to be careful to not overlook any steps or pieces, because taking things apart and backtracking gets a little frustrating.
Performance
The music box works great. It plays “Canon Variations”, whatever that is.

- The final product is pretty and something I’d be willing to put on display in my home
What needs to be improved?
- The definition of the markings on the dark wood pieces needs to be more clear
Final thoughts
I continue to be impressed by ROKR’s puzzles. I did a little research online and the designers of this puzzle have even more amazing puzzles and products. The quality is definitely top-notch. The service behind it was excellent as well. When I opened the box, the clear acrylic piece that goes on the top of the piano had several cracks. I communicated back with ROKR and they shipped me out a new piece very quickly without any fuss. I would recommend the ROKR Magic Piano puzzle kit to anyone looking for a fun project to put together.
