REVIEW – The LISEN 4 in 1 Car Charger is a cable-equipped charger with retractable cables for your Android and Apple devices, plus it has two standard plugs for using your own cables for charging additional devices. I’m an Android guy so what do I do with a Lightning cable? Oh yeah, my wife’s iPad! We’ll never forget her cable again. It’s built in.

What is it?

The LISEN 4 in 1 Car Charger is a device charger intended for use in any vehicle that has a 12V accessory plug (cigarette lighter).

The cables extend to a length that’s plenty for in-car phone use. In my state, we aren’t supposed to handle our phones when driving, so in this pic, I was parked. And in the passenger seat.

Design and features

There was no instruction sheet included with the LISEN 4 in 1 Car Charger but who’d need one? I say thanks for saving a bit of paper. The specs are on the Amazon page from which you’d buy this device and that seems sufficient.

The LISEN Car Charger has 2 retractable cables and two open ports. The cables are for devices that charge by USB-C connection or Apple Lightning connection. The USB-A and USB-C ports are for plug-in connections with cables a user already owns.

With its 69W output LISEN states that this charger is ready for simultaneous charging. Here you see all cables deployed and plugs occupied.

Thankfully no car fuses were harmed in the making of this review.

Assembly, Installation, Setup

The LISEN Charger is completely assembled and comes ready to plug in and charge devices.

Performance

The LISEN 4 in 1 Car Charger looks large, because it is. Some in-car chargers fit so snugly in the accessory plug that they sit flush in the plug as if they’re made for the space. The LISEN Charger has to contain its two coiled cords somewhere so it’s easy to understand why it is sized as it is.

LISEN 3

When the cables were fully retracted into the ‘can’, I found the cable plugs to be slick and somewhat difficult to pull out to a usable length. When the cables are fully retracted there isn’t much to grip. For that reason I usually retracted the cord so that about 4-5” of cable hung loose so I could more easy pull the cable at the next use.

LISEN 6

I also unplugged the LISEN Charger when it was not in use. It displays the car’s voltage which may use some current and I didn’t want to risk battery drain.
I once reviewed a dash cam that drained my car’s battery to zero even when it was turned off so I take no chances lately.

My wife found the LISEN 4 in 1 Car Charger to be top-heavy given the position of her car’s accessory plug on the center console. It’s not far from the driver’s elbow. She kept knocking the charger loose with her right arm. My accessory plug is in front of the gear shift so was out of the way and more conveniently located.

We’re Android phone users but my wife uses an iPad so the combination of the USB-C and Lightning cables is great. Even if you’re an ‘Android only’ person, at some point you’ll have an Apple user in the car who’ll appreciate that second cable.

What I like about the LISEN 4 in 1 Car Charger

  • Useful length of the built in cables
  • Solid construction
  • The two open ports are useful options

What needs to be improved?

  • More grip surface on the plugs to aid grasping when they are fully retracted

Final thoughts

The LISEN 4 in 1 Car Charger has features and capabilities that seem well thought-out and should be a useful charger for the car, truck or RV.
