NEWS – Hearing loss is no joke. I play drums. Remove the ‘r’ from drum and that’s what I’d be if I hadn’t used hearing protection the whole time I’ve played. But I also use hearing protection when I mow the yard, blow leaves, use power tools louder than a drill, and when I vacuum the house or grind coffee beans.
Do you ride a bicycle above 10-15 MPH or on windy days? Wind noise can actually damage hearing. If it seems loud, well, it is.
From a relative’s experience I learned that hearing loss is cumulative and cannot recover. When it’s gone it is gone. What you have today must be protected when you are in high noise environments.
Enter HEAROS brand of hearing protection. I mainly use Hearos High Fidelity Musician’s Ear Plugs when I play in settings where I can’t use my protective in-ear monitor set. These can be used by concert goers too.
I can hear through the Hi Fi Musician’s Ear Plugs adequately to lead and keep tight with the rest of the band, but these plugs cut out damaging highs and lows, most of which are of my own doing. I use a different version with greater noise dampening capability for times I’m using loud tools or mowing.
HEAROS makes a wide range of hearing protection ear plugs from standard to special purpose. They make corded versions which are convenient if you have to frequently remove and replace plugs during work or activities. They make contractor grade ear plugs for people who work in noisy industrial environments. They even make pink ones intended to block snoring noise. (Probably not just because they’re pink.)
From sport shooters to jack-hammer operators, HEAROS probably has your noise reduction needs covered by one or more of their models. This is cheap insurance. Please PROTECT your hearing. That was a shout. You can find their products on their site and Amazon.

Lex, I have deteriorating hearing as I am in my 70’s. I’ve tried several brands of ear plugs (but not these), but not one seems much better than the previous one I tried. How does this brand rate with others? No mention of effectiveness in the write up and it sounds like an advertisement. Thanks!
Anthony, thanks for the questions. We do not advertise here. This piece was about me reporting a product I buy and use that has been effective for me. The musician’s ear plugs I describe wouldn’t be best for noisy machinery use, because I need to hear the band when I play music. This wasn’t a review nor a scientific evaluation of the effectiveness of the ear plugs. This model works for me in band / music settings. HEAROS puts a number on each package that denotes the noise reduction level from that model. I just bought a package of HEAROS ‘EZ Twist’ ear plugs at the hardware store last night. I like ’em.
Thanks! I’ll have a look at their line up.
