LionTrek Power Station 3 1

REVIEW – Every year I travel to South America, and each time I am there it is very obvious that frequent blackouts are a normal part of life in that part of the world. My issue is usually the discomfort that I experience when the power goes out during the night and my CPAP machine stops working. Not only do I hate the temporary discomfort until I snatch the nasal pillows out of my nose, but then I am unable to sleep properly because I cannot use the machine until the power comes back on.  I own many “portable” power stations, but they are heavy and bulky and definitely do not meet the TSA requirement and limitations for travel. Enter the Lion Energy Lion TREK Portable Solar Generator.

What is it?

The Lion Energy Lion TREK Portable Solar Generator is a small portable solar power generator that has an AC outlet and has up to 150W of output. You can power anything from laptops, lamps, cameras, phones, and even TVs. It is also compliant with the requirements that allow you to take it with you on an airplane.

The Lion Energy Lion TREK Portable Solar Generator is encased in what appears to be heavy-duty rubber and ABS. It features all of the ports on the front along with the LCD screen that provides all of the power and charging information. On each of the long sides, there is a cooling fan, and on the right side, there is an additional charging port for use with a solar panel.

Performance

The Lion Energy Lion TREK Portable Solar Generator performs well, powering several of my devices including my CPA machine. It can power my CPAP machine for hours while keeping my phone and iPad charged. The first thing I did was charge it overnight to ensure that it was fully charged.

What I’d change

  • Include a storage hard case

Final thoughts

The Lion Energy Lion TREK Portable Solar Generator is a solidly built power station that is compact enough to fit in your carry-on luggage or your EDC gear bag. It packs enough power to provide most of my charging/powering needs for a day and the big bonus is that it is TSA-compliant so I can carry it on the plane with me in the cabin. Well done.
