REVIEW – Dark.  It is something to be eradicated in a home. If you have a too-dark corner, a floor lamp that shines up as well as diffusing light all around can turn that dark corner into a design highlight.  BoostArea has just such a solution with its 9-Watt LED floor lamp.  Is it a bright idea?  Let’s take a look!

What is it?

This is a floor-standing, non-dimming lamp that provides both up-lighting as well as diffused surround lighting.

What’s in the box?

Design and features

Setup

Setup takes just a few minutes.

You screw the first rod into the base and continue screwing the rods together until you reach the lamp assembly.  The lamp assembly screws into the top of the assembled rod and the shade screws into the top of the lamp assembly. All through the assembly process, you pull the power cord through the base to take up the necessary slack for shipping.

Design

The flat black metal assembly looks modern and clean.

The single LED light sits in the center of the up-facing diffusing shade, under a diffusing cover.

The knurled, rotating on/off switch is located near the top of the lamp, just below the shade.

Performance

The lamp, with its diffusing shade, produces a very pleasing light.  Its warm white color is easy on the eyes and doesn’t range into the blue spectrum, so it won’t negatively affect sleep.

The light shines both up to the ceiling and spreads out and down because of the translucent shade.

The light output is only 800 lumens or a 60-watt incandescent equivalent, so this is more of an accent lamp than a primary room lamp.

What I like

  • Good looks
  • Easy assembly
  • Pleasing light output

What I’d change

  • Not very bright, but that is by design

Final thoughts

This is a very basic floor lamp.  It turns on and turns off and produces nice, warm white light.  It has a modern look and would look good in most homes.  In my opinion, it is best suited for a corner to maximize light bouncing off the surrounding walls and ceiling. If you need a not-too-bright accent lamp, at this price, this lamp is a solid choice.

  2. I think this is just too expensive for what it is. Not a good value proposition. I’m assuming from the photo that the bulb isn’t changeable. No dimming? No smart device capability & Echo or Home compatibility for $37? Nix. You can get something similar in Ikea or Home Depot for a lot less, and they give you the flexibility to choose your own light source (brighter or different color temperature) or even a smart bulb for less.

  3. Hi there, this floor lamp adopts an LED bulb, which is eye-protective, energy-saving, and has a long lifespan as well (>50,000 hours) while IKEA adopts an incandescent bulb, so the price is different. Besides, there a one year warranty for customers, so I think no worry about the quality issue. Anyway, the customer service is very nice, if you are interested in this LED floor lamp or have any inquiries, just feel free to contact them!

  4. I received the item in a timely fashion. It was easy to assemble, and the amount of light it gives off is amazing. I am very satisfied with the product.

  5. This lamp only puts out 800 lumens. You can get another lamp from Amazon that puts out 2000 lumens for about the same price from Amazon. Definitely not a good deal.
