crowdfund

This week’s notable crowdfunding campaigns round up post includes four Kickstarter campaigns  that were interesting enough to pique my interest. Click through to check out my list of this week’s notable Kickstarter projects.

Jacopo Dondi | 24-Hour Watches

What is it?
This is a wrist watch that has a 24-hour dial and only one hand. The dial has 24 numbers around the edge that are separated by segments for each 10 minutes so you can easily see what time it is and how much of your day is left.

Why do I like it?
Other than the addition of smartwatches, the traditional wrist watch design hasn’t changed since it was invented. Watches have 12 marks around the dial to represent hours 1 through 12 and an hour hand that rotates around the face two times a day. The Jacopo Dondi just needs one hand that only goes around the face once. It’s a simple but genius idea.

With only 2 days left in the campaign, the Jacopo Dondi 24-Hour Watch campaign has already passed their funding goal of $37,362. You can pre-order a Jacopo Dondi 24-Hour Watch starting at $112. After the Jacopo Dondi 24-Hour Watch campaign ends, the rewards are estimated to ship in March 2017. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

Zero Gravity Racks

What is it?
The Zero Gravity Rack is a storage system that uses the space above your head to store objects like surfboards, bicycles, skis and more, up and out of your way.

Why do I like it?
Garages can become a real mess when items are stacked on the floor. This system lets you store some of those items in a space that is otherwise unused, above your head. And instead of using pullies or other awkward ways to retrieve the items, the Zero Gravity Rack system uses a gas strut that easily lifts and lowers the load. Even though I don’t surf, ski or even ride a bike, I want some of these for my garage. I don’t know what I’d lash to them, but I’m sure I have some junk cluttering the floor that would benefit from higher storage.

With only 16 days left in the campaign, the Zero Gravity Racks campaign has already passed their funding goal of $15,000. You can pre-order a Zero Gravity Rack starting at $119. After the Zero Gravity Racks campaign ends, the rewards are estimated to ship in December 2016. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

Toasteroid

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/258723592/toasteroid-first-app-controlled-smart-image-toaste/

What is it?
The Toasteroid is an app-controlled toaster that burns your custom message or drawing on the bread as it toasts.

Why do I like it?
I love toast and I love doodling, so what’s not to love about the Toasteroid. It’s not even THAT expensive and looks like it would be really fun for parents to draw a message on toast for their kids. It might even make them want to get up earlier before school, just to eat some custom toast 🙂

Where can I find more info?
With only 40 days left in the campaign, the Toasteroid campaign still has work to do to reach their funding goal of $150,000. You can pre-order a Toasteroid starting at $59 for the mini Toasteroid with two slots but only prints on one slice, or $79 for a Toasteroid that can print on 2 slices. After the Toasteroid campaign ends, the rewards are estimated to start shipping in July of 2017. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

The Z

What is it?
The Z mouse is a new mouse made by the same folks who brought use the SwiftPoint mouse that we reviewed several years ago. The Z is a mouse that can pivot, tilt and roll. It has a brand new way of clicking buttons that allows you to access dozens of different button actions with minimal movement of your fingers.

Why do I like it?
I think gamers will love this mouse because it’s built with them in mind. It knows how hard to click and has an accelerometer and gyroscope built in to take some games to the next level. The tilting feature alone sounds pretty cool. You can assign any action to tilt, like leaning, crouching or reloading. You can also use tilting as a modifier key (like shift or control) without actually having to press a button or a key.

Where can I find more info?
With only 38 hours left in the campaign, the Z mouse campaign has already blew past their funding goal of $140,000. You can pre-order a Z mouse for $139. After the Z campaign ends, the rewards are estimated to start shipping in December 2016. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

  2. I never understood the 12 hour format. I use 24 it makes things so much simpler, especially when working in different time zones.
