With a Heated Steering Wheel Cover, you’ll be able to drive to work on wintry days and arrive with hands that aren’t stiff and blue from the cold. The cover wraps completely around the steering wheel, and it will provide heat for 35 minutes – more than enough time for the heater to get the car toasty warm. The unit’s rechargeable battery is good for three hours, and you can recharge it as needed from the car’s power outlet. The battery pack attaches to the steering column to keep it out of the way. You can leave the cover on year round; maybe it will provide some insulation from the blistering hot steering wheel in the summer, too. The Heated Steering Wheel Cover is $79.95 at Hammacher Schlemmer.

Two words:
Driving gloves
@Sandee Five words: Some people don’t like gloves
I have poor circulation in my hands or something, because my hands get cold easily. The nicely insulated gloves I have aren’t enough to keep my hands warm on really cold days. And forget ever getting warm again if I have to scrape the car windows. Driving gloves are usually thin and made to improve your grip on the wheel. They wouldn’t do anything to thaw out my hands when I’ve had to scrape a quarter inch of solid ice off the 8 windows in my Subaru Outback.
I remember a few years ago seeing a wheel cover made of some kind of gel that you could put in the microwave for 30 seconds and it stayed warm for appox 15-20 minutes. No batteries. I never tried it and the fact that I can’t seem to find it today likely means it wasn’t a big winner!!!
