If looking at your little brother’s LEGO creations never inspired your imagination, this new book from No Starch Press sure will. Beautiful LEGO by Mike Doyle is a 280 page coffee table book that features LEGO sculptures from dozens of artists. From abstract to life-like, the models featured in the pages of this book are sure to kick start your creative juices if you’re a LEGO fan, and if you’re not, it will at least give you new appreciation for the art that can be created when you combine a couple thousand little plastic bricks. Beautiful LEGO is due this month from No Starch Press but can be pre-ordered now for $29.95

I am so happy to see that Lego blocks have made such an amazing comeback. A few years ago there were talks about bankruptcy. At 40 years old, I still have an extensive collection of original and new Lego sets (including every Lord of the Rings and most of the Star Wars Episodes IV to VI). To watch my son have the same enjoyment from using his imagination that I had a child, is just wonderful.
