The Wireless Multifunction Mini Router / Repeater from Satechi really earns the “multifunction” label.  This little 2.9″ X 0.9″ X 2.9″ device is small enough to fit in a gear bag, and it offers features found in much larger devices.  The Wireless Multifunction Mini Router / Repeater has five functions.  It can serve as your main router for home or office; simply plug the Mini Router into a power outlet, cable it up to the modem, and you’ll have wireless access from all your devices.  It can be a repeater to strengthen and extend your network into an area with weak signal strength.  It can be an access point to create a wireless signal in a hotel room with only a wired Ethernet connection, for example, so it’s great for traveling.  In bridge mode, you can connect it to your existing wireless network and rebroadcast it under a different name – so you can allow customers to access your network without trusting them with the password.  And it can serve as a client to add wireless connectivity to internet-ready TVs that require a wireless adapter.

The Wireless Multifunction Mini Router / Repeater is 802.11n (backwards compatible to b/g).  Satechi says it offers: “Easy WPS security encryption at the push of a button; maximum WLAN security with WPA2, WPA, and WEP (128/64); and a travel-sized design with QoS functionality to ensure high-quality VoIP and multimedia streaming.”  It’s normally $49.99, but Satechi is offering it now for $39.99.

  2. I’ve used the Linksys WTR54GS, which has collapsible prongs. I’m going to get this Satechi one to replace it because the collapsible prongs on the WTR54GS are getting harder to extend and collapse.
