Laptops are becoming ever so popular these days that most people use them as desktop replacements.  They are extremely convenient because of their portable size and having everything built-in (keyboard, mouse, and monitor).  But there are sacrifices for this increase in convenience.  You lose the comfort of having a raised monitor, there’s increase in heat because of the lack of a full sized fan, and the keyboard is practically flat and uncomfortable to type on.  Laptop stands usually solve these problems but those stands are usually bulky.  That’s why AViiQ have provided me with their Portable Laptop Stand.

In the box you’ll find the portable laptop stand, self explanatory instructions, a sleeve to hold the stand, and extra plastic feet.

The portable laptop stand unfolds to expand to 4 times its size.

The top part folds back and into itself to form the wedge.  It feels like playing with origami.  Folded Dimensions: 12.75″ x 2.75″ x 0.25″.  Unfolded Dimensions: 11″ x 9″ x 1.75″.

The AViiQ Portable Laptop Stand is “made from Hylite, a composite material comprised of aluminum sheets bonded to a polypropylene core”.  Weighing only 5.5oz, it feels extremely light and portable to take along with your laptop.

This stand supports up to 17” laptops.  My MacBook Air rests nicely on the stand.

The laptop stand provides a comfortable 12 degree angle for the laptop and I had no problem typing on it for a long period of time.  The stand also has plastic feet to prevent it from slipping or scratching the table.

AViiQ-9

I’m not sure how long this stand will last because of the constant folding and unfolding of the polypropylene.  And it’s quite pricey at $79.95 for a laptop stand.

  2. try incline pro (www.inclinepro.com). I’ve had one for a couple years now and it’s still as good as new: rock solid. It goes with me on my regular travels and I even use it on my lap on an airplane (just don’t fold it out), to stop my legs getting cooked! They only come in 1 size now (small) but it should fit any laptop: the small one works on my Macbook PRo 17″ and my girlfriend’s 15″ Sony laptop.
