LG DoublePlay

The dual-screen Kyocera Echo didn’t have much success in the market, and Nokia abandoned the split keyboard design they had with the Nokia e70 and the Nokia 6800 family. Unlike the Echo and the e70, the DoublePlay from LG, exclusively available from T-Mobile, will have a 3.5” main display and a split sliding keyboard with 2” display. The 2” inch display can operate independently or in tandem with the main screen. This screen operates like an app dock, for quick launching apps. And it enables you to send TWIT’s or to update your Facebook status from the small screen, while surfing the web or doing something else on the main screen. LG plans to use the DoublePlay in several texting challenges at the 2011 LG National Texting Championship, where competitors will vie for the chance to win a $50,000 prize. The DobulePlay will come with 1.0 Ghz Single core snapdragon processor running Android 2.3 Ginergbread and with 5 megapixel camera able to capture 720p HD video.  The phone will be available through T-Mobile.  Price and availability are not known yet.  Read the press release here.
