NewsBreak Lite RSS Reader for WinMo

on April 7, 2009 9:51 am

I recently downloaded Ilium Software’s NewsBreak Lite RSS reader from the Windows Mobile Total Access Site. I had been searching for a lightweight non-bloated reader for my Treo, and I really like this one. It’s free, it’s fast, easy to configure, and did I mention Free? There’s a paid version from Ilium┬áthat implements some other features including podcasts, but if you’re in to lean and mean, the Lite version works nicely.

    @Remo, I did some digging, and I’m no smarter than I was before. I can’t tell. I am guessing the Lite version is a version Ilium has given to Microsoft as a teaser for the full version but I can find no documentation that lists the differences. The only difference I am able to note so far is a lack of podcast support in the lite version, which I won’t miss. It works great as a quick reader, and that’s what I was needing. Good luck & let us know if you get any answers. Thanks for posting!

    @David Flowers,
    Looking at the download site from MS, I found this sentence:
    “This download is limited to five feeds. Additional feeds can be purchased from within the application or by visiting” I’m guessing that is main limitation…..

    @David, You are absolutely correct. I had added in one additional feed to the stock 4. When I tried to add a 6th, it told me I was limited to 5 and would need to upgrade to the paid version. However, you can delete the default 4, and add in 5 of your own. Thanks for digging that up and clarifying!
