Using a web-based interface called on{X} allows you to easily control your Android smartphone by programming “when this happens, then do that” rules using a set of Java APIs and pushing those rules down to your Android smartphone. These rules or “recipes” can then be published for other people to use, and they can be easily amended by the end user without having any programming experience.
For example one of the pre-designed rules is: “Show me the weather forecast every day at 9:00am if the expected temperature is below 50 Fahrenheit“, and I can easily change the the underlined options by just clicking on and choosing from a drop down box.
I haven’t had a chance to play with it yet, and it’s not the first app of this type, but it does look interesting. The weird thing is, it’s a Microsoft project that only works on Android, and the only way you can login is via a Facebook account……..weird !
The beta is available for free from the Google Play Store.
