z dockZDocks great looking heavy charging docks for iPhones and iPods (I think they are sturdy enough that they will even work with an iPad). They are cast in solid zinc, weigh 400g / 14.1oz and have a smooth brushed finish. The universal connector sticks up out of the dock, so that you can attach the device without needing to remove it from a case. ZDocks are $49.00 and are available now.

  2. Julie have you heard anything of the iPad2 yet?
I wanted to get an iPad, as you know, but I felt that it was too hobbled for my use. I’m not trying to start any wars here! It was just lacking for my own personal needs.
When will Gadgeteer start looking into this- know any engineers at Apple? Or maybe bars where they hangout? 🙂

    1. @Bob Deloyd We all know how tight lipped Apple is about new products. Unfortunately, I don’t have any inside info. If you frequent Engadget and Gizmodo, you’ve probably seen some of the rumors. There have also been some leaks with pictures of cases. I think I read that there’s supposed to be a big Apple event in February, so hopefully we’ll know more soon.

    1. @Jason Ho Probably not. The bottom edge of an uncased iPhone sits flush on the dock when it’s connected. I think the metal Elementcase would be too thick to allow you to fully plugin the cable. BUT, with a little sandpaper to the plastic around the end of the cable, you could actually situate it so is sticking farther out of the dock so that a cased iPhone should work with it.

  3. @Jason – the Base{Dock} has been cleverly designed such that the iPhone connector can be moved up and down within the base so you can adjust it to suit your iPhone+case…..I think it should work!
