International travel can turn a simple charging setup into a bag full of adapters. Your laptop needs enough USB-C power, your phone and accessories need their own ports, and the wall socket at your destination may not accept the plug you use at home.

The Anker Nano Universal Charger (4-in-1, 100W, Smart Display) aims to consolidate that setup. Model A140A combines US/JP, EU, and UK plug configurations with three USB-C ports, one USB-A port, a 1.3-inch display, and up to 100W of total USB output. Anker says it can be used in more than 200 countries and regions.

The appeal is straightforward: instead of packing a high-power USB charger and separate plug adapters, you may be able to carry one device.

Three plug types in one charger

The A140A has built-in Type A, Type C, and Type G plugs. A sliding selector extends one plug configuration at a time while keeping the others locked.

Anker says the charger measures 3.74 × 1.98 × 1.59 inches and weighs 0.58 pounds (262 grams). It is not the lightest item to add to a bag, but the more useful comparison is the collection of chargers and plug adapters it could replace.

100W for a laptop, not every port

USB-C1 and USB-C2 can each deliver up to 100W when used individually, enough to charge a compatible laptop. USB-C3 provides up to 15W, and the USB-A port provides up to 12W.

The key limitation is that 100W is the charger’s total output ceiling. Connecting four devices does not give each one its maximum rated power. The charger shares its available power among connected devices; USB-C3 and USB-A share a maximum of 15W when used together.

Anker says PowerIQ 4.0 manages power allocation. The charger supports standards including USB PD 3.1, PPS, QC 3.0, AFC, FCP, AVS, and BC 1.2, but actual charging speed depends on the device, cable, supported protocol, and number of ports in use. Anker says to use an E-marker cable for output above 60W.

A display with a travel purpose

The built-in 1.3-inch LCD shows local input voltage, charging output, and temperature. Anker says the charger detects local voltage in about one second. That information could be useful when moving between regions with different electrical systems: you can see what the charger is receiving rather than guessing.

The A140A accepts 100–275V AC at 50–60Hz. That range describes what the charger itself can accept; it does not convert voltage for other appliances. Check the voltage requirements of any other equipment you plan to plug in abroad.

Safety and sustained output

Anker lists an interlocked plug mechanism, 320V overvoltage protection, NRTL certification, and its ActiveShield 4.0 temperature-monitoring system. The company says ActiveShield performs more than 10 million temperature checks per day; that is a manufacturer claim, not a result of our testing.

Anker also says prolonged operation at full load can trigger overtemperature protection, automatically reducing output power. If you expect to run several devices near the charger’s 100W limit for extended periods, that qualification matters.

Price and who it suits

Anker lists the charger for $79.99 in the US. Its product page says pre-orders ship between September 25 and October 5.

The strongest fit is a frequent international traveler carrying a USB-C laptop, phone, and smaller electronics. The A140A puts three plug configurations, four USB ports, and live charging information in one unit. If you rarely leave your home plug region, a conventional USB-C charger may make more sense without the extra plug hardware.

For regular international travel, the advantage is not simply the 100W rating. It is having the charger, travel plugs, and multiple USB ports together, provided the shared 100W limit meets your needs.
