REVIEW – I’ve been without a propane grill for a couple of years now, using a pellet grill for smoking meat, and using a small electric grill for times when I just wanted to cook something quickly. The R.W.FLAME G20B Propane Gas Grill review offer came along, and it looked like the perfect small grill for my current needs.

Design and features

After missing out on a few full-size gas grills, I decided to grab the R.W.FLAME G20B Propane Gas Grill review offer. It wasn’t a full-size grill, but it did have a griddle plate also. I figured it would be perfect for when I was cooking for just my wife and myself.

I had never heard of R.W.FLAME before, so I wasn’t expecting anything spectacular. I thought that even if it only lasted a year or two, it would be worth it. My current pellet grill doesn’t have a cart or wheels, and is a bit heavy for moving around often.

The R.W.FLAME G20B Propane Gas Grill arrived in a medium-sized box, and at first, I worried that I might not have read the specifications correctly, and I was going to get a tiny grill. However, I was pleasantly surprised, as I was wrong; the G20B was a masterclass in packaging. The grill was obviously designed to be able to be packaged extremely well. Each piece was designed to fit inside or alongside other parts in the box, making it densely packed for its size.

I was immediately surprised at the apparent quality. Many of the grills I’ve had in the past used standard steel screws that threaded into the metal parts; some even have self-tapping screws instead of real threads. Over my years, I’ve seen a lot of poorly built grills, and the G20B was definitely built very well.

The included assembly hardware.

All of the screws of the G20B are stainless steel, and each spot that they thread into are stainless rivet-nut (permanently installed threads). Not only that, but the leg joining segments were entirely stainless steel as well. The pull-out tray and oil drip tray are also stainless steel.

The main body of the grill, including the knobs, burners, temperature gauge, and hose, was all pre-assembled. Assembly is mainly just adding the legs and side shelves. The instructions were fairly clear, with just one drawing that I had to figure out a little bit. The assembly took 45 minutes, and that was with me taking my time and also taking a few photos.

The built-in temperature gauge.

The G20B surprised me, as it was much sturdier than I anticipated, and the size was just perfect for us. Measuring at 42.91″ x 39.37″ x 20.05″ when the side tables are extended, the G20B also only takes up a space of 24″ x 23″ when the sides are stowed. The grill weighs 45.23 lbs.

The griddle and grill area.

The grilling area is about 15″ wide by 16.5″ deep, and the griddle is about 7.75″ wide by 16.5″ deep, taking up about half of the cooking area. Although I love the griddle, I do wish it had come with a second grate to use instead of the griddle when needed, but I’m going to find an aftermarket grate to use when I just want to grill.

Fully assembled

Each of the side shelves folds down for storage, and each has 8 hook spots for hanging cooking implements, along with 4 holes for hanging items. There is also a shelf for placing items such as seasonings.

The storage shelf is really handy!

The main part of the grill includes a bottle opener and an igniter. If the igniter ever fails, the grill also includes a match holder on a chain to aid in lighting the grill. The grill includes an easily removable warming rack that folds up when not in use.

The grill has two wheels and two feet, making it easy to move around, and there’s no messing with wheel locks like other grills. The grill is easy to move around for cooking and storage.

Plenty of work area on each side when grilling!

For the test run of the grill, I threw on some ribeye steaks, squash, and potatoes. I had it a little high to start with, as I underestimated the heat output of this little grill. Everything came out great, though, and my wife is pleased that she can finally use the griddle outdoors.

Final thoughts

I was completely impressed with the G20B Propane Gas Grill. It is extremely well built and far exceeded my expectations. Assembly was easy, and the grill seems very sturdy. I especially like that the full-size drip tray is removable, making cleaning the grill very easy. My initial thought was that if I didn’t like the grill, I could give it to my son. However, I really like it, so I’m thinking about buying a second one for him.

This grill is going to get a lot of use!

  • Full removable drip tray
  • All stainless hardware and nuts
  • Plenty of storage areas

What needs to be improved?

  • A second grate would have been nice
  • Better “Off” markers for the knob off position would be nice
