REVIEW – As a massive fan of big-screen cinematic magic, I’m enamored with video projectors capable of producing eye-wateringly huge images. JMGO has impressed me with their previous projectors, but can their new sub-$800 N1S 4K projector keep up with its bigger brothers? Let’s dive in for a closer look!

Design and features
I’ve had the pleasure of reviewing JMGO’s N1 Ultra (read it here) and N1s Pro (read it here), and I’ve been thrilled with both, so I was eager to get my hands on their N1S 4K. I was intrigued by the reasonable price tag, smaller size, and 4K resolution.
It arrived in familiar packaging.
Like the others, it’s thoughtfully packaged in a hard foam case that holds the projector, power supply, and remote.
I was immediately clear that this model was considerably smaller and lighter than other JMGO gimbal projectors.
The front of the projector sports the lens and camera. The camera features automatic focusing, which works exceptionally well. The N1S 4K also has sensors that dim the output if someone or something steps into the light path – a real eye-saver!
On the gimbal under the front hides the power button.
The projector swivels for easy placement. JMGO has excellent autofocus and keystone correction for less-than-perfect placement. Bravo, JMGO!
On the back, there are eARC HDMI, a USB port, and a grid that draws air through to keep the projector cool. There’s a fan inside, but other than using the “dust cleaning” mode, I never noticed it was running during testing.
Each side houses 5-watt speakers. The sound was remarkably crisp and clear with surprising bass for a projector of this size. Nice job, JMGO!
You’ll find the power connector on the right side of the gimbal.
The power brick is relatively small, and the cord is detachable.
The bottom of the gimbal features a threaded hole for use with a tripod, wall mount, or ceiling mount.
Two AAA batteries power the remote.
Buttons are thoughtfully arranged and intuitive, but I would have valued backlighting.
Since the projector has no buttons, the first step after powering up is to pair the remote.
To use all the services, including Google Voice, you’ll need to log into a Google account.
JMGO has an app that can connect to the projector and serve as a remote, as well. It helps with the installation of streaming services and adjusting settings.
Of course, configurations are accessible through the on-screen menus.
A few steps later, the JMGO N1S 4K projector was ready to go.
With the room lights on, the image was somewhat washed out, but I don’t plan on watching movies with the lights on.
With the lights off, I was pleased with the out-of-the-box image, but with a few tweaks, it became even more stunning, gorgeous, with perfect focus and exciting, vivid colors. The photos don’t do the N1S 4K projector justice.
Yep, so much better with the lights off.
Final thoughts
The JMGO N1S 4K projector is outstanding. The Colors are vivid and delicious, and the sound is decent for such small speakers. It sets up in minutes and comes with Netflix built in, a huge plus. If you have a darkened room and want to enjoy a big-screen movie experience, the N1S 4K is an outstanding choice. Thank you, JMGO!
What I like about The JMGO N1S 4K Projector
- Reasonably priced
- Small size
- Lots of configuration options
- Excellent autofocus and keystone correction
- Native Netflix! Wooo!
- Carrying case
What needs to be improved?
- I wish the projector had a slightly lower throw ratio for use in smaller spaces.
- A backlit remote would be a plus.
- Infrared capabilities for compatibility with universal infrared remotes would be a worthy addition.
