Assembly, Installation, Setup
The Favoto Flurry 2.0 Step-Thru Commuter Electric Bike Comes almost completely assembled. The only requirement is to attach the handlebar, front wheel, front fender, headlight, and pedals. There is also the choice of attaching the included phone holder. The assembly took me a bit longer because I always find that the tools that are included with bikes to be too small and not as comfortable as the professional tools that I have in my workshop., So I took extra time going back and forth in my garage workshop for tools. I used my Allen wrenches and a couple of combination wrenches. All of the screws fit properly and made the process a breeze.
The following is a timelapse video of my assembly process:
Performance
The Favoto Flurry 2.0 Step-Thru Commuter Electric Bike did not require a lot of assembly, and what had to be assembled was easy. The bike comes equipped with a 750W brushless motor with a peak output of 1000W, and out of the box I was able to achieve 20.6mph with my weight as a 220-pound rider. The speed limit for electric bicycles in NY is 20mph but this bike can be unlocked to achieve 25mphdepending of course on the weight of the rider.
The bike’s 48V 14Ah LG battery with a capacity of 672Wh is touted to be able to run for up to 60 miles which of course depends on terrain and riding style. I have not yet tested the range mostly because I am recovering from a total knee replacement and because it is still quite cold in NY.
The battery charges fully within 4 to 6 hours and is rated for up to 1000 cycles, which, with my riding frequency, would last five or more years.
Now, let us talk about comfort. At first glance, the handlebars seem like the angles they are bent to would make riding uncomfortable, and the seat seems hard. However, I am happy to report that I enjoy the handlebar positioning and angles, and the seat does not hurt at all when riding. The step-thru design works for me because raising my leg high over a bar is currently difficult while I recover.
The fat tires (26″ x 4″) handle NY’s rough, bumpy roads well and provide excellent traction, and the disc brake provides a lot of stopping power. There is nothing special about the headlight and brake/rear light, but I love the bright LED display and the dedicated controls on the left side of the handlebar.
