NEWS – This is for all of the EDC multi-tool collectors out there who like unusual tools that might have questionable functionality but look too cool to pass up. Today, I have for you the JOAT multi-tool, which is currently seeking funding on Kickstarter.
What is it?
The JOAT (Jack Of All Trades) is a CNC-machined titanium multi-tool with a modular layered design. It stacks together and can be hung from a belt loop or keychain.
Why do I like it?
I like the JOAT multi-tool because it’s like a mini toolbox in your pocket. Each layer has its own purpose. The JOAT features:
- Bottle opener – because it’s not a multi-tool without that!
- 4MM/6MM hex wrench (4 sizes)
- Screwdriver
- Magnetic bit holder
- Mini knife with replaceable scalpel blades
- Pry bar
- Mini saw
Each tool layer stacks on top of the other layer and is held in place by magnets to create a solid no-jangle tool. From the video (below), it looks like it’s easy to remove and replace a layer when you need to use a tool, but I’m not sure how comfortable it will be to use these small tools for anything other than small DIY easy fix it chores.
They also claim that the JOAT is TSA-friendly – as long as you remove the blade.
What do you think, is the JOAT a GOAT (Greatest of All Time) multi-tool?
Where can I find more info?
The JOAT campaign ends on 04/04/24 and they quickly met their funding goal of $1,278. You can pre-order a JOAT starting at $69. After the JOAT campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in April 2024, so there won’t be much of a wait. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.
