If it’s true that good things come in small packages, then today, better things come in small packages. Bowers and Wilkins has released the new and improved P3 Series 2 headphone. I reviewed the original P3 and said that, “The P3 headphones are a big step up for people on the move. Their warmth, detail and comfort are first-rate.” Bowers and Wilkins say, “In order to deliver P3 Series 2’s natural-sounding acoustics and incredible clarity, B&W engineers have developed a small drive unit that uses a unique damping system to control diaphragm movement. The result is incredibly precise sound, with big, extended bass that packs a remarkable punch for a headphone of its size.”
The P3 Series 2 remains light, portable and foldable, but now benefits from a premium black leather finish instead of the cloth ear pads from the original. The P3 Series 3 is crafted from aluminum and sheep leather, for performance, durability and luxury.
The P3 Series 2 comes with a removable remote/microphone cable that works with the iPhone and another universal cable that ensures compatibility with all other smartphones and digital audio players. Swapping cables is easy by just removing the replaceable ear pads.
These improvements make me wish that B&W would come out with a wireless version of the P3.
The new P3 Series 2 is priced at $149.99 US and is available now at www.bowers-wilkins.com and Sept. 15, 2016 at retail outlets like Amazon.
