Super 8 movie cameras and players are going the way of the dinosaur, if they haven’t already gone. The time is now to convert that pile of movies that you or your parents have laying around. With the Super 8 to Digital Video Converter, you can convert them yourself, without having to search for a reputable company to do the job for you. You simply load the film on the feeder, and each “frame is individually illuminated by a white LED and captured at high-definition 1920 x 1080 dpi resolution by a linear array color CMOS sensor.” It takes 2 seconds per frame for the capture, so converting can take a while. But the system is fully automated and runs without supervision to convert Super 8 into AVI video format for storage on a connected Mac or PC running Windows 8, 7, Vista, or XP using the included USB cable. It also comes with video editing software. The Super 8 to Digital Video Converter is $1800.00 at Hammacher Schlemmer.

No audio?
Wow, I would love that but it is out of my price range. I guess it does not handle audio, my uncle has a few with audio.
I had a couple hundred reels of 8mm and Super 8 fims digitized at my local camera store for a fraction of that price.
