With the DoorBot, you’ll be able to see, hear, and speak with a person who rings your doorbell, no matter if you’re at home, at the office, or traveling. This device is currently seeking funding at ChristieStreet, and it is roughly 20% funded at the time of this writing, with 41 days to go in the funding period. The DoorBot replaces a standard doorbell with a ringer button, a camera, and a speaker. It’s connected wirelessly to your home network, and it connects with an app on your smart phone or tablet whenever someone rings. They’ll never know where you are, because the DoorBot has no video screen, but you’ll see them and be able to talk with them. It’s a great way to keep track of what’s happening in your primary residence or at a distant vacation home. You can install it with just four screws. Since no wiring is involved, you can use it at rental apartments/houses and take it with you when you move.
The DoorBot is designed to also work with the Lockitron, a device that fits over your deadbolt’s interior thumb button and let’s you check to see if your door is locked or to lock/unlock it from anywhere. You can reserve a DoorBot for a $169.00 pledge or both a Lockitron and the DoorBot for $319.00. Delivery, should funding be successful, is scheduled for July, 2013.
