5 AirPods Pro 3 alternatives for a different fit, price or phone

If AirPods Pro 3 won’t stay put, a different set of tips isn’t your only option. Beats adds an ear hook. Bose separates the tip that seals your ear canal from the band that holds the earbud against your outer ear. Both change the fit in ways a new silicone tip alone won’t.

Price and device compatibility give you other reasons to look beyond Apple. Sony offers ANC and two-device pairing at a lower list price; Huawei has an iPhone app but a less straightforward US buying path; Samsung suits someone who also uses a Galaxy phone. These are alternatives to the sealed, in-ear AirPods Pro 3, not the open fit of regular AirPods.

Powerbeats Pro 2: An ear hook, with Apple switching intact

Powerbeats Pro 2 are the most direct option here for an AirPods owner who wants an ear hook. The flexible hook wraps around the outside of your ear, and five silicone-tip sizes let you adjust the seal. It’s a different way to hold an earbud in place, without giving up automatic switching between compatible Apple devices.

The physical volume rockers are another reason to choose Beats. They put volume adjustment on a button, with no phone to reach for or stem to swipe. The H2 chip also brings one-touch pairing, Audio Sharing, Siri and Find My. Active noise cancellation and Transparency mode cover closed-off listening and hearing your surroundings; the case supports Qi charging.

You do carry more hardware. Each Powerbeats earbud weighs 8.7 grams against 5.55 grams for AirPods Pro 3, and the Beats case is larger. The earbuds’ IPX4 rating covers sweat and splashes, while the case needs to stay dry. AirPods Pro 3 have an IP57 rating for both earbuds and case; neither pair is for swimming.

Playback is rated at up to eight hours with ANC or Transparency on, and up to 36 hours with the case. The advertised ten-hour and 45-hour figures require those modes to be off.

Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds (2nd Gen): Adjust the seal and support separately

An ear tip can seal properly while the rest of an earbud still feels loose. Bose separates those two adjustments: three tip sizes for the ear canal and three stability-band sizes for the outer ear. The bands sit inside the ear, so there’s no hook looping over it.

Noise control has a similar degree of adjustment. In the Bose iPhone app, you can create listening modes and set the cancellation level, or choose Quiet for full cancellation and Aware to let outside sound through. Touch controls can be disabled there, too, if accidental taps are a nuisance.

For an iPhone and Windows laptop, Bluetooth multipoint keeps both connected. It’s a two-device Bluetooth connection, not Apple’s automatic switching across an iCloud-linked collection of devices.

The Bose model sits at the premium end of this list. Rated playback is up to six hours in Quiet mode with Immersive Audio off, falling to up to four hours with it on. The wireless-charging case provides up to three additional charges.

Sony WF-C710N: ANC and two-device pairing for less

Sony’s $129.99 US list price makes the WF-C710N the lower-cost choice here for ANC and two-device pairing. You can keep an iPhone and laptop connected, with one audio stream playing at a time.

The Sound Connect app on iPhone provides an equalizer, and the earbuds include an Ambient Sound mode alongside noise cancellation. AAC support covers iPhone audio.

Playback is rated at up to 8.5 hours with ANC on and up to 30 hours including the case. The earbuds resist splashes; the case doesn’t. Charging is by USB.

Huawei FreeBuds Pro 5: iPhone controls, with a regional buying catch

Huawei’s FreeBuds Pro 5 support two-device connections across iOS, Android and Windows. The Audio Connect app for iPhone provides sound settings and firmware updates, so you can configure them without owning a Huawei phone.

Dynamic noise cancellation, gesture controls, wireless charging and dual-device connection work with iOS. The advertised lossless-audio and NearLink features are a different proposition: those require compatible Huawei hardware.

With AAC and ANC enabled, playback is rated at up to six hours, or up to 25 hours with the case.

Buying them in the US requires more homework than the other models here. Huawei’s global product page provides the model details; a US seller and warranty haven’t been established. Confirm regional support, returns and the exact model before ordering an import.

Samsung Galaxy Buds4 Pro: For a Galaxy and iPhone household

Galaxy Buds4 Pro belong on this list for someone who also uses a compatible Galaxy phone. They handle Bluetooth music and calls on an iPhone, but Samsung’s iOS app doesn’t support this model. For an iPhone-only setup, I’d choose a pair with an iOS app instead.

A touch-and-hold on the earbud blade switches between ANC and Ambient mode. EQ and adaptive noise control can remain enabled when you move to iPhone, after you enable them through the Wear app on Android. This compatibility is documented as of March 3, 2026.

Changing those settings, customizing controls and updating firmware still need a supported non-iPhone route. Auto Switch, 24-bit/96kHz audio, 360 Audio and Interpreter don’t extend to iPhone.

Keep the Apple features you actually use

Before replacing AirPods Pro 3, check any hearing-health or Live Translation features you use. Their availability depends on hardware, software and region, and Bluetooth compatibility alone doesn’t give another pair the same functions.

If fit is driving the change, check the seller’s return policy for opened earbuds before buying. Hooks, bands and tip sizes offer different adjustments; you’ll still need to find the combination that suits your ears.
