Bose has acquired Skullcandy, its Park City-based audio partner. Announced October 21, 2026, the deal brings the brands’ existing Sound by Bose collaboration under one owner. Bose bought Skullcandy from a fund managed by Mill Road Capital Management, and the financial terms weren’t disclosed.
Skullcandy will remain a separate brand within Bose’s Premium Consumer Audio business and keep its Park City base. Bose plans to expand Skullcandy’s access to its technology, resources and distribution.
The collaboration already covers earbuds and over-ear headphones. The Method 360 ANC and Method 540 ANC use Sound by Bose tuning, while the Crusher 1080 ANC combines Bose noise cancellation and spatial audio with Skullcandy’s adjustable sensory bass.
No future models or prices have been announced.
Why Bose and Skullcandy Make an Interesting Combination
Bose and Skullcandy serve different audiences. Bose is associated with acoustic engineering, noise cancellation, and premium audio equipment, while Skullcandy has established its identity through colorful designs, action-sports connections, and products aimed at younger listeners.
Their Sound by Bose partnership began before the acquisition, initially bringing Bose-developed acoustic tuning to Skullcandy earbuds before expanding into headphones with additional audio technologies.
Sound by Bose does not mean every product has the same feature set. The Method earbuds emphasize Bose-influenced sound tuning, while the Crusher 1080 ANC incorporates specific Bose technologies for noise cancellation, spatial audio, and voice processing.
1. Skullcandy Method 360 ANC: The Collaboration That Started It
The Method 360 ANC introduced Sound by Bose to Skullcandy’s true wireless earbuds in 2025. It combines Bose-developed acoustic tuning with Skullcandy’s colorful styling and a charging case designed to clip onto bags and other accessories.
The earbuds use 12mm drivers and adjustable active noise cancellation supported by four microphones. Stay-Aware mode allows surrounding sounds to remain audible when needed, while interchangeable ear gels and fit fins provide different sizing options.
Skullcandy’s current product page lists up to nine hours from the earbuds and 32 hours including the charging case with ANC enabled. It lists up to 40 hours with ANC disabled; a 10-minute charge is rated to provide up to two hours of playback.

Bluetooth 5.3, multipoint pairing, customizable equalizer settings, and IPX4 splash resistance add everyday functionality. The charging case is relatively large, although its integrated clip provides an alternative to carrying it in a pocket.
With a regular price of $129.99, the Method 360 ANC brought Bose-developed tuning into a lower price category than many flagship wireless earbuds.
It is particularly suitable for listeners who want adjustable noise cancellation, customizable sound settings, and a distinctive design without paying for Bose’s premium models.
2. Skullcandy Method 540 ANC: A Smaller Case and Additional Features
The Method 540 ANC builds on the Method 360 rather than introducing an entirely different product concept. It retains Sound by Bose tuning, adjustable noise cancellation, and the clip-anywhere case design while addressing some practical aspects of everyday carrying.
The biggest change is the charging case, which Skullcandy identifies as 35 percent smaller than the Method 360’s case. A stronger magnetic closure accompanies the redesign, making the case easier to carry while retaining its attachment feature.
The Method 540 ANC also supports Skull AI, a voice assistant enabled by Bragi with OpenAI. Skullcandy includes a 14-day free trial; continued use requires an in-app subscription. It can answer questions and handle selected earbud controls by voice.

Skullcandy’s current Method 540 product page lists battery life at up to 32 hours with ANC enabled or 40 hours with it disabled, including the case. IPX4 splash resistance, customizable sound settings, and rapid charging remain part of the package.
Battery figures here follow Skullcandy’s current product listings; some of its other published materials give different runtimes.
At a regular price of $149.99, the Method 540 ANC costs more than the Method 360. Its smaller case and voice-assistant compatibility are the clearest reasons to consider the newer model rather than expecting a completely different listening experience.
For commuters and everyday users, the revised case may be the most useful improvement, especially for those who prefer carrying earbuds in a pocket.
3. Skullcandy Crusher 1080 ANC: The Most Extensive Bose Collaboration
The Crusher 1080 ANC takes the partnership into over-ear headphones, combining Skullcandy’s adjustable sensory bass system with several Bose audio technologies.
Crusher Bass uses dedicated hardware to create a physical sensation alongside low-frequency audio. Rather than relying entirely on conventional bass enhancement, the system allows listeners to adjust the intensity of the tactile effect.
Bose QuietControl provides active noise cancellation, while TrueSpatial adds spatial audio processing. The Bose WaveForm Audio Engine handles audio processing, and SpeechClarity technology is intended to improve voice pickup during calls.

Noise cancellation, spatial presentation, and overall sound quality still depend on the complete headphone design, so the Bose technologies alone don’t establish performance on par with Bose’s premium models.
The headphones support Bluetooth 5.3, multipoint pairing, customizable equalizer settings, and a wired 3.5mm connection. Skullcandy rates battery life at up to 50 hours with ANC enabled or 60 hours with it disabled. A 10-minute charge is rated to provide up to four hours of playback.
Launched in July 2026 with a regular price of $279.99, the Crusher 1080 ANC is the most expensive of the three collaborations. It is particularly relevant for listeners who enjoy adjustable sensory bass but also want Bose-developed noise cancellation and spatial audio features.
What the Bose Acquisition Means for Buyers
The deal gives Skullcandy more access to Bose’s technology, expertise, and distribution while keeping the brand separate. More joint products may follow, but neither company has announced future models or prices.
The Method 360 ANC is the lower-priced earbud. The Method 540 ANC adds a smaller case and voice-assistant compatibility. The Crusher 1080 ANC pairs adjustable sensory bass with Bose audio features.

The acquisition doesn’t turn every Skullcandy product into a Bose product, and it doesn’t guarantee better performance. It brings two brands that already worked together under one owner.
Compare fit, features, and price before choosing. Shared branding alone won’t tell you which model suits you.
