A bedside table, kitchen counter, or shelf can get crowded quickly. You may want softer evening light and a speaker for music or podcasts, but adding both means more cables, more objects, and less usable space. IKEA’s BLOMPRAKT combines a Bluetooth speaker and dimmable lamp in one compact design.

The idea is simple, but the practical question is whether it works best as a lamp, a speaker, or an accent piece. The listed features include warm, dimmable lighting and Bluetooth audio, but no stereo mode. We have not tested its sound quality or volume in use.
A two-in-one design for small surfaces
BLOMPRAKT is sized for a nightstand, desk corner, open shelf, kitchen counter, or side table. IKEA lists it at 9 inches wide, 8 inches deep, and 9 inches high. That compact footprint is the product’s core advantage. It can replace two separate objects where space is at a premium.

The speaker can be placed at different angles, and dual cord slots underneath help route the power cable in a tidier direction. That is a small design detail, but it matters in a small setup where a visible cable can make a shelf or table look cluttered.
IKEA lists a built-in LED light source with a warm 2700K color temperature. Holding the control dims the light. Because IKEA does not publish a lumen rating on the product page, buyers should not assume it can replace a dedicated desk lamp or brighten a room. It is more accurately understood as a warm accent light for winding down, listening, or adding atmosphere.
What the speaker specifications tell us
BLOMPRAKT connects to a phone, computer, or other compatible device through Bluetooth. IKEA says the range is at least 10 meters without interference, though walls, room layout, and other wireless devices can reduce that distance in a real home.

The technical specifications list one 2.8-inch full-range driver, 10 watts of total power output, a frequency range of 78Hz to 18kHz, and a maximum sound pressure level of 76.1dB. These are manufacturer specifications, not listening-test results. They do not establish how clear, full, or loud the speaker will sound in your space.
The key limitation is stereo. IKEA explicitly lists no stereo mode. A single BLOMPRAKT plays mono audio, which is normal for a speaker of this size but relevant for buyers who want a wider soundstage for music. IKEA also notes that sound depends on room size, speaker placement, the incoming audio source, and the settings on the connected device.
The lack of stereo mode rules out using it as a left-and-right stereo pair. Its two-in-one design combines Bluetooth audio with ambient light; comparisons with other speakers would require listening tests.
Multi-speaker mode expands coverage, not stereo separation
IKEA says BLOMPRAKT supports multi-speaker mode with other IKEA Bluetooth speakers that include the same feature. That can be useful if you already own compatible IKEA speakers and want the same podcast or playlist in more than one area.

However, IKEA says multi-speaker mode plays the same sound from every connected speaker in mono. It is a way to extend coverage, not create a left-and-right stereo system. It may be helpful across an open kitchen and dining area, but it is not an alternative to properly placed stereo speakers.
The source device must remain within range of the main speaker, and the added speakers must remain within range of that primary unit. That should work more easily in an open apartment than in a larger home with thick walls and multiple floors.
Spotify Tap adds one shortcut for Spotify users
Spotify Tap is one of BLOMPRAKT’s more distinctive features. IKEA says pressing the button resumes Spotify music from where it was last played. Additional presses can surface recommendations based on listening history.

That can be convenient when a phone is not in hand. But the shortcut is only useful for Spotify listeners. Apple Music, YouTube Music, Tidal, podcasts from another app, and local audio files can still play through standard Bluetooth, but they do not gain the Spotify Tap control.
The speaker is rated IP20, which is an indoor-use rating and does not provide meaningful water protection. It belongs on a dry shelf, table, or counter, not outdoors or near a shower.
Buyer fit
BLOMPRAKT may appeal to someone who wants a compact, design-led object that combines warm light and Bluetooth audio in an indoor space. It makes the most sense on a nightstand, kitchen counter, desk, or shelf where reducing clutter matters as much as sound output.

Consider it for the combined lamp-and-speaker design, Spotify Tap, and compact dimensions. It does not offer stereo mode or water protection, and the product page does not publish a brightness rating.

Sound quality, bass performance, and whether its volume suits your room remain untested. If music performance is your priority, look for hands-on listening evaluations before deciding. If your priority is lighting a desk or room, choose a lamp with a published brightness rating.
