Open-ear earbuds solve one problem by creating another. Keeping your ear canals uncovered makes it easier to hear traffic, coworkers, and announcements, but the lack of a seal also makes it harder to keep outside noise from interfering with your music and calls.

UGREEN is trying to make that compromise more appealing with the ClipBuds Pro2. These clip-on earbuds combine 11mm drivers, LDAC support, four microphones, two VPU bone-conduction voice sensors, and up to 46 hours of claimed battery life with app-assisted translation, transcription, and meeting tools.
That makes them more than another pair of open-ear earbuds aimed at exercise. The question is how well those features work together in everyday use.
A Clip-On Fit That Leaves Your Ears Open
Each ClipBuds Pro2 earbud weighs about 6g and clips around the ear rather than placing a silicone tip inside the ear canal. A 0.5mm memory-titanium C-bridge holds it in place. UGREEN says the structure survived 20,000 bending cycles in its testing, though that claim cannot tell us how it will hold up after years of use.
Because the earbuds do not seal your ears, you can still hear much of what is happening around you. That could be useful while walking outdoors, commuting, or working somewhere you need to hear colleagues and announcements. It also means outside noise can compete with whatever you are listening to.
UGREEN says a built-in gyroscope automatically assigns left and right audio channels based on how you wear the earbuds, so you do not have to check for a left or right marking before putting them on.
LDAC Audio Without Isolation
The ClipBuds Pro2 use custom 11mm dual-magnetic titanium drivers and support LDAC and Hi-Res Audio. UGREEN says the sound was co-tuned with Grammy-winning audio professionals and includes a 360-degree Spatial Audio mode.
Those features describe what the earbuds offer, not how good they sound. LDAC can carry higher-bandwidth Bluetooth audio with a compatible source device, but it cannot give open-ear earbuds the physical isolation of an in-ear pair. Bass, perceived detail, and the amount of outside noise you hear will depend on fit and surroundings.
UGREEN promotes microphone- and VPU-based noise reduction for calls but does not advertise listener-side active noise cancellation for the ClipBuds Pro2. Buyers should not confuse them with the earlier ClipBuds Pro, which does advertise adaptive ANC.
Four Microphones and Two Voice Sensors
UGREEN’s “6-Mic AI” description needs a little unpacking. Each earbud has two conventional microphones and one VPU bone-conduction voice sensor. Across the pair, that is four microphones plus two VPUs—not six conventional microphones.
UGREEN says the system combines sound picked up through the air with vibration data from the VPUs to distinguish your voice from background noise. It also claims clear calls in winds of up to 25 km/h.
Those claims need real-world testing. Wind rejection, voice naturalness, and background-noise suppression cannot be judged from the sensor count alone. Still, the combination of microphones and VPUs could be useful for calls on a walk or during a noisy commute if it performs as advertised.
Translation Is the Standout Feature
The ClipBuds Pro2 become more unusual when paired with UGREEN’s app. UGREEN describes tools for two-way conversation translation, simultaneous interpretation through the earbuds, live recording with transcription and summaries, and meeting notes that identify key information and action items. The availability and exact names of these features may depend on the app version.
UGREEN’s US product page advertises online translation across up to 131 languages, including accented speech, and offline interpretation for 11 languages. Its German product page, however, lists 10 offline languages. UGREEN’s regional listings disagree on the offline count, so check the languages available in your app before buying for a specific trip.
Language counts also say little about accuracy. Results may vary with the language pair, accent, background noise, specialist vocabulary, and whether people speak over one another. Latency matters in a live conversation as well. Without independent testing across languages and settings, these tools are better viewed as potentially useful aids than replacements for professional interpretation.
The features depend on UGREEN’s app and software ecosystem. The earbuds handle listening and voice capture; they should not be mistaken for devices that independently perform all translation, transcription, and summarization onboard.
Battery Life and Buyer Fit
UGREEN rates the earbuds for up to 10 hours of playback per charge and up to 46 hours with the charging case. It says a 10-minute charge provides up to three hours of playback. Those are manufacturer maximums; volume, codec choice, connection conditions, and enabled features may affect actual battery life.
The ClipBuds Pro2 make the most sense for someone who values awareness and communication more than isolation. Their light clip-on fit, multipoint connectivity, call-focused hardware, and claimed battery life could appeal to commuters and office workers. Travelers or anyone who regularly joins multilingual conversations may also find value in the app’s translation and meeting tools.
If blocking outside noise is your priority, conventional in-ear earbuds with ANC are a better fit. If translation is the main attraction, treat UGREEN’s language count as a measure of advertised compatibility, not proof of accuracy.
