A lot of premium Casio watches make their technology obvious. Complicated dials, metal bracelets, Bluetooth features, and more overtly modern cases can be part of the appeal, but they can also make an Oceanus feel more like a precision instrument than an everyday dress watch.

The new Oceanus OCW-T2600RL-3AJR goes in the opposite direction. Part of Casio’s Retro Tone Collection, this Japan-market limited edition combines a muted green gradient dial, titanium case, and full vegetable-tanned Tochigi leather strap with the practical technology Oceanus buyers expect. Only 500 pieces are being produced for the Japanese market, with a suggested retail price of ¥115,500.
The result is a watch that looks deliberately old-school at first glance but requires very little of the maintenance traditionally associated with mechanical watches.
The dial is the reason to look twice
The OCW-T2600RL-3AJR does not use the bright Oceanus blue most closely associated with the brand. Instead, Casio gives it a green dial with a half-matte gradient treatment that shifts in tone from the center toward the outer edge.
Casio says the finish is designed so color and light appear to blend as they move across the dial. That gives the watch a softer, more restrained personality than many of the polished blue Oceanus models.
The treatment is more than cosmetic because this is still a solar-powered watch. The dial has to allow enough light to reach the Tough Solar system beneath it while maintaining that layered gradient effect. That makes the retro look feel more engineered than decorative.
It is a subtle detail, but it is one of the strongest reasons this limited edition stands apart.
Tochigi leather changes the character
The strap makes just as much difference as the dial. Instead of the titanium bracelet commonly associated with Oceanus, the T2600RL uses cowhide from Tochigi Leather, a Japanese maker founded in 1937. Casio says the leather is full vegetable-tanned through a traditional process involving roughly 20 production stages.
The practical appeal is that the strap should develop more character as it is worn. Vegetable-tanned leather naturally changes in color and sheen over time, which gives this watch something most highly engineered Casio models do not emphasize: visible aging.
That contrast suits the Retro Tone concept particularly well. The titanium case is built for precision and durability, while the leather is meant to become more personal with use.
It is still a serious Oceanus
The vintage influence stops once you get into the specifications. The titanium case measures 42.8 mm wide, 48.2 mm lug-to-lug, and 10.7 mm thick. Despite those dimensions, the entire watch weighs just 49 grams, helped by both the titanium construction and leather strap.
Casio applies a titanium carbide finish to improve wear resistance and enhance the metal’s finish. The dial is protected by sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides, while water resistance is rated to 10 bar.
That makes the T2600RL much more capable than its dressier appearance might suggest. It also uses Casio’s Tough Solar system, so routine battery changes should not be part of normal ownership. Casio rates the watch for approximately five months of operation from a full charge without additional light exposure, or up to roughly 22 months when power-saving features are active.
Radio control handles accuracy
One of the nicest things about Oceanus is that you can get extremely convenient timekeeping without turning your wrist into another connected gadget.
The OCW-T2600RL-3AJR supports Casio’s Multiband 6 radio-controlled timekeeping in supported reception areas across Japan, North America, Europe, and China. When it can receive a signal, the watch automatically corrects itself using atomic-clock-based radio transmissions.
Unlike the more expensive OCW-S400RL-8AJR from the same Retro Tone Collection, however, the T2600RL does not include Bluetooth smartphone connectivity. The S400 combines Multiband 6 with phone-based automatic time adjustment, while the T2600 keeps things self-contained.
For some buyers, that is part of the appeal rather than a drawback. There is no app to configure and no phone connection to maintain. The watch handles its own charging and, where reception is available, its own time correction.
More hides on the dial
The traditional styling also disguises a surprisingly useful set of complications.
Casio includes world time for 29 cities across 29 time zones plus UTC, automatic daylight-saving adjustment, a 1/20-second stopwatch with a 60-minute capacity, a full automatic calendar, automatic hand-position correction, and a battery-level warning.
None of those features turns the T2600RL into a smartwatch, and that is precisely the point.
You get practical travel and timing functions without notifications, charging cables, software updates, or another glowing screen on your wrist.
Who is it for?
The OCW-T2600RL-3AJR makes the most sense for someone who likes the convenience of quartz but wants something with more personality than a conventional radio-controlled watch.
Its titanium construction, sapphire crystal, Tough Solar charging, 10-bar water resistance, Multiband 6 synchronization, and useful world-time functions give it strong everyday credentials. The green gradient dial and Tochigi leather strap keep all that technology from making the watch feel clinical.
The biggest obstacle is availability. Casio is limiting this version to 500 pieces for the Japanese market, so buyers elsewhere may need to rely on importers or secondary-market sellers.
If Bluetooth connectivity and the slimmer Manta case matter more, the 300-piece OCW-S400RL-8AJR is the more advanced member of the Retro Tone pair. But the T2600RL has a different kind of appeal.
