It costs $3,990 and joins the Knowled cine lineup next to the bigger AM1600R.
Inflatable lights are not brand new, and Godox has used air frames before, but the AM800R brings that idea to the popular 4 by 4 size. It packs a full-color LED panel, pro color controls, and weather sealing into a frame you fill with air. The goal is simple. A big soft light should be easy to carry, fast to set up, and quick to pack away at the end of a long day.
What Godox built
The AM800R takes the stiff frame of a normal 4 by 4 light and swaps it for one you fill with air. You pump it up to about 8 PSI in a minute, and Godox says it stays firm for up to about 15 days before you need to add more air. When you are done, it folds down and packs into a case, so a big soft light is far easier to move than a rigid 4 by 4 rig.
Godox first showed the light at NAB 2026. The company says it built it because users wanted something faster to set up than its flexible mats. The panel puts out 800 watts of full-color light from 1,800K to 10,000K. You get HSI, RGBW, and gel control, plus green-magenta tuning up to ±100. A folding U-bracket holds it in place, and swappable diffusion fabric spreads the beam into a smooth, controlled wash.

How it works on set
The main win is speed. A stiff 4 by 4 frame takes time to build. The AM800R just needs air, so you can raise it in about a minute. The AM1600R is much larger, an 1,800W panel that measures 4 by 8 feet for big stages. The AM800R keeps the popular 4 by 4 size but trades the frame for air. That makes it easy to add if you already use Knowled lights, because the HSI, RGBW, and gel controls work the same way. Who should buy it
This is a pro light for film and studio work, not a simple creator light. At $3,990, it is aimed at DPs, gaffers, rental houses, and crews that already use 4 by 4 lights and want faster setup and easier travel. If you shoot film, ads, or studio work and care about quick setup and weather protection, the air frame is a fresh take on a familiar tool.
Most casual shooters and streamers do not need this much power or this high a price. For them, Godox’s smaller flexible mats or panel lights are a better fit.
