Design and features

The Sequence Pillar Plus XL 7-Day Pill Organizer boasts a sturdy design that’s made to thump around in your bag or suitcase without spilling the contents. The unit is big at 24 cm by 4.5 cm by 2.4 cm, but the long cylindrical design allows you to slip it into open spaces or seams in your packed bag.

Pillar puts and emphasis on sustainability in their products. The base material here is a combination of recycled and plant-based plastics that is both Non-GMO and BPA free. It feels thick and sturdy, yet only weighs about 3 ounces overall. 7 different color schemes are offered in variations of soft pastel hues.

The 2-piece design leverages an external sleeve that slides over the pill container. Your little tablet icons line up on the side of the unit as shown below. This slides into place with an audible snap when closed.

You’ll pull it open to reveal the pill compartments. Each one is labeled with a letter for the day of the week, starting with “M” for Monday. I believe the intent here is enable you to load up your pills and supplements, then you can slide to the next day to unload your items without tipping out all of the contents.

The big selling point on this design is the size. I’ve dropped a few coins into the pics below to give you a size reference. Each compartment is 4 cm wide by 3 cm long by 1.7 cm deep, with a lip on the sides to keep the content from falling out during opening as long as you use that tablet icon to determine which way is up.

To give you a sense for capacity I’ve loaded a series of larger supplements below. On the far left you’ll find pretty standard multivitamins, followed by magnesium powder caps and larger Omega-3 gel caps. I can get about 10 vitamins, 8 caps, and 7 gel caps in these chambers without impeding performance.

Performance

The Sequence Pillar Plus XL 7-Day Pill Organizer is a sturdy, well designed device for sorting and managing your pills and supplements… provided that it fits your use case.

The XL capacity is outstanding if you manage a lot of tablets on a daily basis, especially supplements. I usually have 4-6 odd-sized supplements I take daily in addition to my medication. The chamber sizes are perfect for that assortment with plenty of room to spare.

The slide-style deployment is a matter of personal preference. I like the fact that you can slide open the day’s compartment and dump what you need into your hand. Everything else stays safe and secure.

Sequence PillarPlus PillOrganizer 10

If you’re accustomed to sorting your stuff by pill type, however, I don’t know that this design works as well. You’ll need to open the chamber up for access to multiple compartments in that case, running the risk of dumping our pills or tablets that you don’t want at that time.

The size may or may not be an issue for some. It’s a big pill carrier, but I think the tradeoff to carrying a bunch of smaller bottles is worth it. It may be excessive if you’re only doing short trips, however.

The build itself is outstanding. No moving parts that can fail, solid plastics that are resistant to chips and cracks, and a solid locking mechamism make for worry-free transport in my bag.

Final thoughts

The Sequence Pillar Plus XL 7-Day Pill Organizer is a a great choice if the simple design, sturdy construction, and big compartments match up to your needs. Some may find that the 7-day capacity is limiting for longer trips, and the design doesn’t work as well if you prefer to organize your stuff by pill/capsule type rather than daily disbursement. While it’s a bigger container I would argue that it’s a better alternative to carrying a couple of smaller bottles if it matches your use case. If you like the daily slider design Sequence also makes a smaller model that may meet your needs.

What I like about The Sequence Pillar Plus XL 7-Day Pill Organizer

  • Rugged, durable design
  • Simple usability
  • Plenty of room for an assortment of pills and supplements in each chamber

What needs to be improved?

  • It’s large size is not ideal for compact packing
  • Open-chamber design is not great for organizing by pill type
