REVIEW – My son is moving into an apartment for his second year of college, and needs a vacuum cleaner that doesn’t take up a lot of room. Fortunately, I was able to check out Levoit’s line of cordless vacuum cleaners, the LVAC-200 and LVAC-300. What are they like, and how are they different?

Design and features
It all starts with the packaging itself: There’s a handy, printed quick setup guide on the inside flaps of each model.
This is the interior of the LVAC-200’s box. The 300 is the same. No foam peanuts here! Just molded cardboard.
The LVAC-200 is on the left, the LVAC-300 on the right. They are physically very similar, with the LVAC-200’s color scheme similar to an Imperial Stormtrooper. The 300 has a more silver/bronze/blue color look. Note that they both can stand up on their own without brackets.
Not only do they look similar, but they’re only 4.5 oz apart: The LVAC-200 weighs 6 lbs, 4.5 oz. The LVAC-300 clocks a little more at 6 lbs, 9 oz. Both weighed with the standard full-size motorized attachment, all extensions, and the battery.
Both models are just around 43 inches tall.
Both motorized brush heads are the same at just under 10″ wide.
The motorized brush heads are pretty much the same on both; An electrical connection runs down the tube to spin the brush and illuminate the LED “headlights”.

Both motorized heads have a minimum ground clearance of just over 2-1/4″ high.
The rolling brush can be removed for cleaning. Both are pretty similar.
The dust bin system is the same. The cylinder detaches by pressing a release button, and the metal filter can be removed.
Both feature a 5-stage HEPA filtration system that Levoit claims prevents 99.99% of particles from being released into the air.

The LVAC-200 comes packed with a 2-in-1 crevice brush (top), as well as a 2-in-1 pet tool (bottom). The pet tool has a removable brush head.
The LVAC-300 also comes with a similar-looking 2-in-1 crevice tool (top), but is also packed with a mini motorized brush head. The tilt angle can be adjusted (bottom).
To clean out the mini brush head, a lever on the side opens access to the head itself.
Both models feature detachable batteries with 3 LED indicators on the side. While the batteries look identical (LVAC-200 in white, LVAC-300 in blue), they are not interchangeable. You do not have to remove the battery to charge. It can remain on the vacuum.
The controls function the same on both units: One on/off button, and one speed button that toggles through the three speeds. The big difference is the LED display on the LVAC-300 (left) that shows % battery remaining and speed. The LVAC-200 (right) doesn’t tell you a thing. You’ll have to rely on your ears to determine what speed it’s running.
Assembly, Installation, Setup
The LVAC vacuums both have a motorized head, so electricity has to get down to it somehow. This is done by a pair of metal prongs. LVAC-200 pictured below.
The non-powered tools (crevice and pet heads) don’t require electricity, so they can be used without any extensions at all. The full size head can be attached directly to the vacuum body without any extensions as well, for a comically stubby vacuum.
The LVAC-300 also lets you mix it up as well. Both the full size and mini brush heads are motorized.
As mentioned before, you can charge the battery on or detached from the vacuum body. An LED indicator tells you the charge state.
One of my favorite party tricks: Both models can stand up on their own without support.
Performance
I’ve got this super disgusting rug. Just look at it (left)! I ran both vacuums with the motorized brush. They both did a fine job. LVAC-200 on the left, the LVAC-300 on the right.
Here’s a closeup of the canister after a run. Look at all those dust bunnies!
A vacuum is no good if it’s out of power, so I tested both side-by-side running at Turbo speed with the full-sized motorized head. The LVAC-300 (left) clocked in at 16 min, 49 seconds before powering off. The LVAC-200 was nearly the same at 16 min, 56 seconds. Both exceeded the runtimes listed in the specifications.
Final thoughts
I like the price of the LVAC-200- it does pretty much everything it’s bigger brother LVAC-300 does. I do like the LVAC-300’s colors a little more, and the multifunction display is just awesome! My son chose to take it to college, so I’m hanging up the LVAC-200 (with the supplied bracket), ready for the next messy job.
What I like about the Levoit cordless vacuums
- Just over 6 lbs
- Easy assembly and cleaning
- Digital display (LVAC-300)
- Motorized mini attachment (LVAC-300)
What needs to be improved?
- Interchangeable batteries between models would have been nice.
- Some kind of indicator would have been helpful on the LVAC-200’s speed setting.
