REVIEW – For the past year or so, I have been working remotely 100% of the time as I recover from total knee replacement surgery. For infrequent use, I was satisfied with the camera built into my laptop, but now that I am using it in meetings all day, every day, I want and need something better. I need something with better resolution choices and auto-tracking so when I move around to reposition my knee, the camera follows me, keeping me visually engaged with the other attendees. The webcam is compact and easily fits on a monitor or a laptop screen. It also features a three-axis gimbal that enables pan, tilt, and zoom movements. Performance

The EMEET PIXY PTZ 4K webcam with a dual-camera system performs well, and especially so given the reasonable price point. The featured dual-lens works well to provide nice image quality and fast focus. The 4K option and wide field of view make it versatile for capturing multiple attendees at meetings, livestreaming, as well as an option for content creation. It provides decent low-light performance, which is enhanced by its ability to automatically adjust the exposure.

According to EMEET, “the AI-powered enhancements further elevate the user experience by using advanced deep learning to optimize facial exposure and beautification, ensuring natural skin tones and clarity even in challenging lighting or backlit situations.” I am still adjusting the lighting in my new studio/office, so it will take more time before I can fully experience and enjoy the full capability. In the meantime, I still struggle a bit with adjusting for true color accuracy, and there is often “noise” in the video when light levels are rapidly changing in my room. For example, if my TV is on and the scenes are impacting the light in the room, this can be a challenge. On many occasions, I am in meetings, and I have the TV on but muted. I see the struggle then.

The EMEET PIXY also offers three AI audio modes: streaming mode for balanced noise cancellation, noise-cancelling mode for meetings, and original mode for unfiltered sound. I like these options that allow me to change the audio performance according to what I want or need. However, if I decide to use this webcam for creating content for social media, I will opt for using a high-end professional microphone.

While my work MS Teams account controls the settings in the application and would not allow me to record without the approval of my organization (this is my laptop that I allow my organization to control), I was able to capture the screenshots below of a video test meeting with the Gadgeteer’s editor Julie Strietelmeier.

Final thoughts

Overall, the EMEET PIXY PTZ 4K webcam is a good value for the price point and the features and performance that it offers. The auto tracking, the video quality, the ability to quickly select color schemes, and the tripod mount that allows use off my computer are things that work to meet my needs.

What I like about EMEET PIXY

  • It is easy to set up and use
  • It looks sleek
  • It functions well and has nice features
  • The performance is good, including the resolution

What needs to be improved?

  • I am not a fan of the software application and its features
