Design and features

The Fanttik Aero X has a familiar look for robotic cleaners: motorized track wheels, a rotating rubber brush, a removable filter basket, and carry handles. Its bold black-and-yellow design adds a sleek touch. Notably, it features a floating cable and buoy for app and remote communication while submerged.

The cleaner includes two Cleaning Modesβ€”Focus and Weeklyβ€”and three Cleaning Types: Floor, Waterline, and Full (walls, waterline, and floor). These can be selected directly on the unit or via the app.

Focus Cleaning is ideal for on-demand use, while Weekly Cleaning allows you to set a recurring schedule in the app, including cleaning type, speed, duration, and start time. Though I haven’t used Weekly Cleaning due to the size and usage of our pool, I can see it being valuable for daily maintenance needs.

I have used the Focus Cleaning Mode for spot cleaning to help get the pool ready for the season. I have used all three Cleaning Types, and all work as described. The Floor Cleaning will only clean the floor. The Waterline Cleaning will first clean the waterline along the walls and then clean the floor. The Full Cleaning will clean the waterline, the rest of the wall surface and the floor. Overall, all seem to work well and complete the tasks as expected. As a Gadgeteer, I tend to gravitate toward easy-to-use, straightforward gadgetsβ€”and I’m thrilled with how simple the Fanttik Aero X pool cleaner is to operate.Β  You simply turn the unit on, select the mode (toggle switch or app) and cleaning type (toggle switch or app), then lower the cleaner into the pool, letting it sink to the bottom. Once it is on the floor, it will start cleaning based on the setting selected.

App & Remote Control

App Highlights

  • Cleaning type selection (Floor, Waterline, Full)
  • Adjustable speed and duration
  • Real-time cleaning data: surface covered, time elapsed, battery level
  • Lift Feature: Moves the cleaner to the pool edge, then up the wall for easy retrievalβ€”no pole or hook needed (except if it’s near stairs).
  • Manual Controls: Use a joystick-style interface to move the cleaner for spot cleaning or positioning.

Physical Remote
The included remote mimics the app’s manual controls:

  • Joystick-style control
  • Power and mode buttons
  • Speed/function toggle
  • Indicator lights

One limitation: the Lift feature is only available through the app, not the physical remote.

The app is where the Fanttik Aero X really shines. It lets you select the cleaning type, set speed and duration, view real-time stats (like surface area cleaned and battery life), and manually control the cleaner with a joystick-style interface.

One of my favorite features is the Lift option, which brings the cleaner to the edge of the pool and up the wall for easy retrievalβ€”no pole or hook (like the AIRROBO PC100) required (unless it’s resting near the stairs, where Lift doesn’t work). In that case, the manual control option is the perfect backup. It works like a virtual game controller, allowing you to move the cleaner in any direction for precise spot cleaning or repositioning.

Aero X 1

The physical remote mirrors the app’s manual controls, with a joystick, mode toggle, speed function, and indicator lights. While it doesn’t include the Lift feature, it’s a great hands-on alternative to using the app.

The Fanttik Aero X remote features a power button, a mode button to switch between manual and automatic modes, a function button for adjusting speed, and indicator lights that display the remote’s status.

The manual controls also let you move the Aero X to a specific area, making it easy to target a spot for quick, focused cleaning.

Aero X 7

Post-cleaning when you have retrieved the Aero X from the pool, the filter basket needs to be cleaned and rinsed.Β  This task is simple and easy.Β  The bottom opens to dump large, loose debris, like leaves, tree seed pods, and small twigs.Β  There is usually fine dirt left over after dumping, that can be washed off with a hose.

Aero X 8

The included optional mesh filter bag can be inserted for extra protection or fine filteringβ€”though I haven’t needed to use it yet.Β  Luckily, our pool does not sit under a lot of trees, but I could see this being an added bonus for those with more debris that gets in their pool.

Charging and storing the Fanttik Aero X is simple. The unit has a color-coded battery indicatorβ€”green, orange, or redβ€”to show the current charge level, and the app also displays the exact battery percentage. It charges using a standard wall charger that connects to a waterproof port on the cleaner. Be sure to securely replace the rubber plug after charging to maintain the waterproof seal. For storage, keep the cleaner in a clean, cool, and dry area, and leave it uncovered.

The Fanttik Aero X includes a warranty of up to 2 years. (Note: Check Fanttik’s website for specifics, as warranty terms vary by product.)

Assembly, Installation, Setup

The Fanttik Aero X comes fully assembled along with a manual remote control (batteries included) and an optional additional mesh filter bag that can be added for extra debris capture.

Aero X 9

There is an iPhone/Android app to download to use with the cleaner (that app is a key feature of this cleaner). App is simple to find and download using the QR code on the box or simply searching for β€œFanttik” in the App Store.

It is recommended to charge the cleaner before the first use with the included charging cable (connects to wall outlet).Β  Note: After charging, ensure the rubber cap is secured when in use.

Performance

The Fanttik Aero X performs well overall, efficiently collecting dirt and debris from the pool floor, walls, and waterline. That said, our oval-shaped poolβ€”with angled corners and sloped floorsβ€”presented some challenges.

The waterline cleaning function, which runs clockwise, often struggled with tight corner transitions. The cleaner would pause, backtrack, or skip sections entirely. It attempted to compensate by readjusting its approach, but not always successfully.

Floor cleaning also proved inconsistent. Despite claims of a systematic back-and-forth pattern, the cleaner moved randomly, sometimes stopping mid-pool before shifting directions. While it eventually covered most areas, the lack of predictable movement left some doubt.

Aero X 3

The sloped transition from deep to shallow ends confused the sensors. On the downhill run, the cleaner frequently popped a wheelie, reducing floor contact and cleaning effectiveness. It performed better uphill, but the overall inconsistency affected coverage.

The cleaner also failed to climb or clean pool steps, retreating after brief attempts.

Despite these navigation quirks, the app makes operation incredibly easy. You can set custom speeds and durations (1 minute to 6 hours), view detailed performance metrics, and schedule weekly cleanings. While I don’t use the schedule feature, it’s great for those who want automated maintenance.

Final thoughts

The Fanttik Aero X Cordless Robotic Pool Cleaner is a definite upgrade from my previous pool cleaner, offering extended battery life and smart features that enhance convenience. While its navigation system could be improvedβ€”especially in irregularly shaped or sloped poolsβ€”the cleaning performance is still solid.

Where the Aero X truly shines is in its app and remote control functionality. From real-time stats and cleaning customization to the Lift and manual joystick controls, it brings an impressive level of convenience to pool maintenance.

If you’re looking for a reliable robotic cleaner with smart features and an easy-to-use app, the Fanttik Aero X is a great choiceβ€”especially for flat or minimally sloped pools.

What I like about the Fanttik Aero X Robotic Pool Cleaner

  • Overall use of the app
