The VINGUYS Smart Bird Feeder V-Feeder Bamboo uses sustainably sourced bamboo and wood. It is weatherproof and IP66-rated and features a feeder with a 1.5-liter seed capacity. Its accessories include a detachable 3W solar panel, and dual 4000mAh batteries are built in. It also features a 2.5K UHD camera with color night vision and AI-powered Smart Bird ID technology, which can recognize over 11,000 bird species. It provides real-time alerts and auto-recording, ensuring you never miss a moment. It sends instant notifications to your smartphone whenever birds visit to enjoy the bird seed. Other features include connectivity via 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, cloud support, and TF card onboard storage. There are multiple options for mounting.
Assembly, Installation, Setup
The VINGUYS Smart Bird Feeder V-Feeder Bamboo arrives mostly assembled. I had to attach the roof, which also acts as the hatch for bird seed refills, and then I charged and inserted the camera. Once I connected the antenna and solar panel, the last step for me was to install a 4×4 post and the mounting bracket.
Performance
Since I am an ECO and techie geek kind of guy, the first thing that I liked about the VINGUYS Smart Bird Feeder V-Feeder Bamboo was the build design that incorporates eco-friendly materials and advanced smart technology. The use of bamboo is attractive and durable, and its IP66 waterproof rating makes it weather-resistant. VINGUYS claims that it will withstand the weather in various climates, but I will bring mine indoors once old man winter starts knocking at the door. It has a nice size 1.5-liter seed capacity, and the solar-powered design with Wi-Fi connectivity means it can operate continuously with minimal intervention. Installation is straightforward, and the mounting system allows for flexible placement and easy adjustment to get the best camera angles. The 2.5K UHD camera provides high-definition images and videos of the various birds that frequent my backyard looking for food and laying eggs, and the wide angle of the camera captures when multiple birds feed simultaneously.
I love that there is 2-way audio since I can hear the birds chirping and even cracking the seeds as they eat, and I figure I can use it to yell at any visiting squirrels. The feeder also boasts AI-powered bird identification, claiming to be able to recognize/identify 11,000 species and send real-time alerts to your smartphone whenever a new bird arrives.
The micro-SD card option allows me to save photos and videos locally as an option instead of signing up for the cloud account, but the cloud account does offer several additional features, including bird identification. My only slightly negative comment is that the wireless connectivity is limited to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi connection, which did give me challenges in terms of placement. Luckily, I still have a couple of WAPs that are dual-band.
APP:
Setting up the Bird Feeder via the app is straightforward. Here are some screenshots:
Once the app is running, it provides access to many features, and if you subscribe to the cloud storage, you get additional features like bird species detection, etc.
Note: The plastic over the tree in the lead photo is protecting it from the numerous birds that the Bird Feeder attracts. I will move the Feeder.
Vinguys provided me with a subscription to the AI Intelligent Bird Identification, and I am happy to report that it works well.
Final thoughts
The VINGUYS Smart Bird Feeder V-Feeder Bamboo is my first bird feeder, and I’ve had a great experience with it. Besides attracting beautiful birds, it is aesthetically pleasing, and its smart features ensure I never miss a beautiful bird that visits. The solar panel has allowed me to set it and forget it. Well done.
